1 In the first book, O ^(A)Theophilus, I have dealt with all that Jesus began ^(B)to do and teach,

³ it seemed good to me also, having followed all things closely for some time past, to write ^(A)an orderly account for you, ^(B)most excellent ^(C)Theophilus,

¹⁹ And he said to them, “What things?” And they said to him, “Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, a man who was ^(A)a prophet ^(B)mighty in deed and word before God and all the people,

^23 (A)And he went throughout all Galilee, ^(B)teaching in their synagogues and ^(C)proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and ^(D)healing every disease and every affliction among the people. ²⁴ So his fame spread throughout all ^(E)Syria, and ^(F)they brought him all the sick, those afflicted with various diseases and ^(G)pains, ^(H)those oppressed by demons, ^(I)those having seizures, and ^(J)paralytics, and he healed them.

²³ Jesus, ^(A)when he began his ministry, was about ^(B)thirty years of age, being ^(C)the son (as was supposed) of Joseph, the son of Heli,

²¹ For ^(A)to this you have been called, ^(B)because Christ also suffered for you, ^(C)leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. ^22 (D)He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. ^23 (E)When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, ^(F)but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly.

²² “Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, ^(A)a man attested to you by God ^(B)with ^(C)mighty works and wonders and signs that ^(D)God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know—

³² Jesus answered them, “I have shown you many good works from the Father; for which of them are you going to stone me?” ³³ The Jews answered him, “It is not for a good work that we are going to stone you but ^(A)for blasphemy, because you, being a man, ^(B)make yourself God.” ³⁴ Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in ^(C)your Law, ^(D)‘I said, you are gods’? ³⁵ If he called them gods to whom the word of God came—and Scripture cannot be ^(E)broken— ³⁶ do you say of him whom ^(F)the Father consecrated and ^(G)sent into the world, ‘You are blaspheming,’ because ^(H)I said, ‘I am the Son of God’? ^37 (I)If I am not doing the works of my Father, then do not believe me; ³⁸ but if I do them, ^(J)even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that ^(K)the Father is in me and I am in the Father.”

²¹ In that hour ^(A)he healed many people of diseases and plagues and evil spirits, and ^(B)on many who were blind he bestowed sight. ²² And he answered them, “Go and tell John what you have seen and heard: ^(C)the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, ^(D)lepers^[a] are cleansed, and ^(E)the deaf hear, ^(F)the dead are raised up, ^(G)the poor have good news preached to them. ²³ And blessed is the one who is ^(H)not offended by me.”
