36 Now in (A)Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha (which when translated means [a]Dorcas); this woman was [b]excelling in acts of kindness and charity which she did habitually. 37 But it happened [c]at that time that she became sick and died; and when they had washed her body, they laid it in an (B)upstairs room. 38 Since Lydda was near (C)Joppa, (D)the disciples, having heard that Peter was there, sent two men to him, urging him, “Do not delay in coming to us.” 39 So Peter got ready and went with them. When he arrived, they brought him into the (E)room upstairs; and all the (F)widows stood beside him, weeping and showing all the [d]tunics and garments that Dorcas used to make while she was with them.

36 In Joppa(A) there was a disciple named Tabitha (in Greek her name is Dorcas); she was always doing good(B) and helping the poor. 37 About that time she became sick and died, and her body was washed and placed in an upstairs room.(C) 38 Lydda was near Joppa; so when the disciples(D) heard that Peter was in Lydda, they sent two men to him and urged him, “Please come at once!”

39 Peter went with them, and when he arrived he was taken upstairs to the room. All the widows(E) stood around him, crying and showing him the robes and other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was still with them.
