²⁹ And he spoke boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus and disputed against the ^(A)Hellenists,^{[a] (B)}but they attempted to kill him.

Seven Chosen to Serve

6 Now in those days, ^(A)when the number of the disciples was multiplying, there arose a complaint against the Hebrews by the ^(B)Hellenists,^[a] because their widows were neglected ^(C)in the daily distribution.

²⁶ in journeys often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, ^(A)in perils of my own countrymen, ^(B)in perils of the Gentiles, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;

⁹ Yet Michael the archangel, in ^[a]contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, ^(A)“The Lord rebuke you!”

^8 (A)And he went into the synagogue and spoke boldly for three months, reasoning and persuading ^(B)concerning the things of the kingdom of God.

¹⁹ And he came to Ephesus, and left them there; but he himself entered the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews.

¹⁷ Therefore he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and with the Gentile worshipers, and in the marketplace daily with those who happened to be there.

²⁰ But some of them were men from Cyprus and Cyrene, who, when they had come to Antioch, spoke to ^(A)the Hellenists, preaching the Lord Jesus.

^27 (A)But Barnabas took him and brought him to the apostles. And he declared to them how he had seen the Lord on the road, and that He had spoken to him, ^(B)and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.

Saul Preaches Christ

²⁰ Immediately he preached ^[a]the Christ in the synagogues, that He is the Son of God.

²¹ Then all who heard were amazed, and said, ^(A)“Is this not he who destroyed those who called on this name in Jerusalem, and has come here for that purpose, so that he might bring them bound to the chief priests?”

²² But Saul increased all the more in strength, ^(B)and confounded the Jews who dwelt in Damascus, proving that this Jesus is the Christ.

Saul Escapes Death

²³ Now after many days were past, ^(C)the Jews plotted to kill him.
