Saul Persecutes the Church

(A)Now Saul approved of putting [a]Stephen to death.

And on that day a great persecution [b]began against (B)the church in Jerusalem, and they were all (C)scattered throughout the regions of Judea and (D)Samaria, except for the apostles. Some devout men buried Stephen, and mourned loudly for him. But (E)Saul began ravaging the church, entering house after house; and he would (F)drag away men and women and put them in prison.

The Church is Scattered

Now Saul heartily approved of putting Stephen[a] to death. That day a severe persecution broke out against the church in Jerusalem, and everyone except for the apostles was scattered throughout the countryside of Judea and Samaria. Devout men buried Stephen as they mourned loudly for him. But Saul kept trying to destroy the church. Going into one house after another, he began dragging off men and women and throwing them in prison.
