Then he left the country of the Chaldeans and settled in Haran. After his father died, God had him move from there to this country in which you are now living.(A) He did not give him any of it as a heritage, not even a foot’s length, but promised to give it to him as his possession and to his descendants after him, even though he had no child.(B)

“So he left the land of the Chaldeans and settled in Harran. After the death of his father, God sent him to this land where you are now living.(A) He gave him no inheritance here,(B) not even enough ground to set his foot on. But God promised him that he and his descendants after him would possess the land,(C) even though at that time Abraham had no child.

Then came he out of the land of the Chaldaeans, and dwelt in Charran: and from thence, when his father was dead, he removed him into this land, wherein ye now dwell.

And he gave him none inheritance in it, no, not so much as to set his foot on: yet he promised that he would give it to him for a possession, and to his seed after him, when as yet he had no child.
