⁵ He, however, ^(A)shook off the creature into the fire and suffered no harm.

¹⁹ Behold, I have given you authority ^(A)to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of ^(B)the enemy, and ^(C)nothing shall hurt you.

^18 (A)they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; ^(B)they will lay their hands ^(C)on the sick, and they will recover.”

^6 (A)Then the Lord sent fiery serpents among the people, and ^(B)they bit the people, so that many people of Israel died. ^7 (C)And the people came to Moses and said, “We have sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord and against you. ^(D)Pray to the Lord, that he take away the serpents from us.” So Moses prayed for the people. ⁸ And the Lord said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent and set it on a pole, and everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.” ⁹ So ^(E)Moses made a bronze^[a] serpent and set it on a pole. And if a serpent bit anyone, he would look at the bronze serpent and live.

³ Then from the smoke came ^(A)locusts on the earth, and they were given power like the power of scorpions of the earth. ⁴ They were told ^(B)not to harm ^(C)the grass of the earth or any green plant or any tree, but only those people who do not have ^(D)the seal of God on their foreheads.
