20 Since neither sun nor stars appeared for many days, and no small storm was assailing us, from then on all hope of our being saved was slowly abandoned.
21 [a]When many had lost their appetites, Paul then stood among them and said, “[b](A)Men, you should have followed my advice and not have set sail from (B)Crete, and thereby spared yourselves this (C)damage and loss. 22 And yet now I urge you to (D)keep up your courage, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship.

New International Version
20 When neither sun nor stars appeared for many days and the storm continued raging, we finally gave up all hope of being saved.
21 After they had gone a long time without food, Paul stood up before them and said: “Men, you should have taken my advice(A) not to sail from Crete;(B) then you would have spared yourselves this damage and loss. 22 But now I urge you to keep up your courage,(C) because not one of you will be lost; only the ship will be destroyed.
