17 (A)So when they came together here, I made no delay, but on the next day took my seat on (B)the tribunal and ordered the man to be brought. 18 When the accusers stood up, they brought no charge in his case of such evils as I supposed. 19 Rather they (C)had certain points of dispute with him about their own religion and about (D)a certain Jesus, who was dead, but whom Paul asserted to be alive.

17 When they came here with me, I did not delay the case, but convened the court the next day and ordered the man to be brought in.(A) 18 When his accusers got up to speak, they did not charge him with any of the crimes I had expected. 19 Instead, they had some points of dispute(B) with him about their own religion(C) and about a dead man named Jesus who Paul claimed was alive.
