22 But Felix, because he[b] understood the facts concerning the Way more accurately, put them off, saying, “When Lysias the military tribune comes down, I will decide your case.”[c] 23 He ordered[d] the centurion for him to be guarded and to have some freedom, and in no way to prevent any of his own people[e] from serving him.

22 Then Felix, who was well acquainted with the Way,(B) adjourned the proceedings. “When Lysias the commander comes,” he said, “I will decide your case.” 23 He ordered the centurion to keep Paul under guard(C) but to give him some freedom(D) and permit his friends to take care of his needs.(E)
