Paul’s Defense Before the Jews

³⁷ As Paul was about to be brought into ^(A)the barracks, he said to the commander, “May I say something to you?” And he *said, “Do you know Greek?

²⁴ the ^[a]commander ordered him to be brought into ^(A)the barracks, stating that he should be ^(B)examined by flogging so that he might find out the reason why they were shouting against him that way.

¹⁰ And as a great dissension was developing, because the ^[a]commander was afraid Paul would be torn to pieces by them, he ordered the troops to go down and take him away from them by force, and bring him into ^(A)the barracks.

¹⁶ But when the son of Paul’s sister heard of their ambush, ^[a]he came and entered ^(A)the barracks and reported it to Paul.

³² But the next day, leaving ^(A)the horsemen to go on with him, they returned to ^(B)the barracks.
