And they were all (A)filled with the Holy Spirit and began (B)to speak in other tongues (C)as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men from every nation under heaven. And (D)at this sound the multitude came together, and they were bewildered, because each one was hearing them speak in his own language. And (E)they were amazed and astonished, saying, “Are not all these who are speaking (F)Galileans? And how is it that we hear, each of us in his own native language? Parthians and (G)Medes and (H)Elamites and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, 11 both Jews and (I)proselytes, Cretans and Arabians—we hear them telling in our own tongues the mighty works of God.” 12 And (J)all were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “What does this mean?”

Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing(C) Jews from every nation under heaven. When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken. Utterly amazed,(D) they asked: “Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans?(E) Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language? Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia,(F) Pontus(G) and Asia,[b](H) 10 Phrygia(I) and Pamphylia,(J) Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene;(K) visitors from Rome 11 (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!” 12 Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?”
