29 “Men and brethren, let me speak freely to you (A)of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. 30 Therefore, being a prophet, (B)and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, [a]according to the flesh, He would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne, 31 he, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, (C)that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption. 32 (D)This Jesus God has raised up, (E)of which we are all witnesses. 33 Therefore (F)being exalted [b]to (G)the right hand of God, and (H)having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He (I)poured out this which you now see and hear.

34 “For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he says himself:

(J)‘The Lord said to my Lord,
“Sit at My right hand,
35 Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.” ’

36 “Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”

29 “Fellow Israelites,(A) I can tell you confidently that the patriarch(B) David died and was buried,(C) and his tomb is here(D) to this day. 30 But he was a prophet and knew that God had promised him on oath that he would place one of his descendants on his throne.(E) 31 Seeing what was to come, he spoke of the resurrection of the Messiah, that he was not abandoned to the realm of the dead, nor did his body see decay.(F) 32 God has raised this Jesus to life,(G) and we are all witnesses(H) of it. 33 Exalted(I) to the right hand of God,(J) he has received from the Father(K) the promised Holy Spirit(L) and has poured out(M) what you now see and hear. 34 For David did not ascend to heaven, and yet he said,

“‘The Lord said to my Lord:
    “Sit at my right hand
35 until I make your enemies
    a footstool for your feet.”’[a](N)

30 (A)But God raised Him from the dead. 31 (B)He was seen for many days by those who came up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are His witnesses to the people. 32 And we declare to you glad tidings—(C)that promise which was made to the fathers. 33 God has fulfilled this for us their children, in that He has raised up Jesus. As it is also written in the second Psalm:

(D)‘You are My Son,
Today I have begotten You.’

34 And that He raised Him from the dead, no more to return to [a]corruption, He has spoken thus:

(E)‘I will give you the sure [b]mercies of David.’

35 Therefore He also says in another Psalm:

(F)‘You will not allow Your Holy One to see corruption.’

36 “For David, after he had served [c]his own generation by the will of God, (G)fell asleep, was buried with his fathers, and [d]saw corruption; 37 but He whom God raised up [e]saw no corruption.

34 God raised him from the dead so that he will never be subject to decay. As God has said,

“‘I will give you the holy and sure blessings promised to David.’[b](H)
