Peter Says That Both Jews And Gentiles Are Saved By Grace And Faith, Not By The Law
6 And the apostles and the elders were gathered together to see about this matter. 7 And much debate having taken place, Peter, having stood up, said to them, “Men, brothers, you know that from the old[a] days God made-a-choice among you that by my mouth the Gentiles should hear the message of the good-news and believe. 8 And God, the heart-knower, testified[b]— having given the Holy Spirit to them, just as also to us. 9 And He made no distinction between both us and them, having cleansed their hearts by faith. 10 Therefore[c] why are you now testing God by laying a yoke on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? 11 Rather, we believe that we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus in accordance with the way those also are saved ”.

- Acts 15:7 That is, the days of Acts 10, now some ten years in the past.
- Acts 15:8 That is, testified that Cornelius was truly and fully saved.
- Acts 15:10 The believers in Antioch are a continuation of what God started to do back in Acts 10. These former Pharisees are rejecting the testimony God gave in Acts 10, and seeking to lay on these Gentiles things they themselves could not keep.

6 The apostles and elders met to consider this question. 7 After much discussion, Peter got up and addressed them: “Brothers, you know that some time ago God made a choice among you that the Gentiles might hear from my lips the message of the gospel and believe.(A) 8 God, who knows the heart,(B) showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them,(C) just as he did to us. 9 He did not discriminate between us and them,(D) for he purified their hearts by faith.(E) 10 Now then, why do you try to test God(F) by putting on the necks of Gentiles a yoke(G) that neither we nor our ancestors have been able to bear? 11 No! We believe it is through the grace(H) of our Lord Jesus that we are saved, just as they are.”
