Paul Turns to the Gentiles
44 The next (A)Sabbath nearly all the city assembled to hear the word of [a]the Lord. 45 But when (B)the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and began contradicting the things spoken by Paul, and were [b]blaspheming. 46 Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and said, “It was necessary that the word of God be spoken to you (C)first. Since you repudiate it and consider yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, (D)we are turning to the Gentiles. 47 For so the Lord has commanded us,
‘(E)I have appointed You as a (F)light [c]to the Gentiles,
That You may [d]bring salvation to the end of the earth.’”
48 When the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying (G)the word of [e]the Lord; and all who (H)had been appointed to eternal life believed. 49 And (I)the word of the Lord was being spread through the whole region. 50 But (J)the Jews incited the [f](K)devout women (L)of prominence and the leading men of the city, and instigated a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their [g]region. 51 But (M)they shook off the dust from their feet in protest against them and went to (N)Iconium. 52 And the disciples were continually (O)filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.

Paul Turns to the Gentiles
44 On the next Sabbath almost the entire [a]city gathered together to hear the word of the Lord [about salvation through faith in Christ]. 45 But when the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy and began contradicting the things said by Paul, and were slandering him. 46 And [at the same time] Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and confidently, saying, “It was necessary that God’s message [of salvation through faith in Christ] be spoken to you [Jews] first. Since you repudiate it and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, now we turn to the Gentiles. 47 For that is what the Lord has commanded us, saying,
‘I have placed You as a light for the Gentiles,
So that You may bring [the message of eternal] salvation to the end of the earth.’”(A)
48 When the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying [praising and giving thanks for] the word of the Lord; and all those who had been appointed (designated, ordained) to eternal life [by God] believed [in Jesus as the Christ and their Savior]. 49 And so the word of the Lord [regarding salvation] was being spread through the entire region. 50 But the Jews incited the devout, prominent women and the leading men of the city, and instigated persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them forcibly out of their district. 51 But [b]they shook its dust from their feet in protest against them and went to Iconium.(B) 52 And the disciples were continually filled [throughout their hearts and souls] with joy and with the Holy Spirit.

(F)Since you thrust it aside and judge yourselves (G)unworthy of eternal life, behold, we (H)are turning to the Gentiles. 47 (I)For so the Lord has commanded us, saying,
(J)“‘I have made you (K)a light for the Gentiles,
that you may (L)bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’”
48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and (M)glorifying the word of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed. 49 And the word of the Lord was spreading throughout the whole region. 50 (N)But the Jews incited the devout (O)women of high standing and the leading men of the city, (P)stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and (Q)drove them out of their district. 51 But they (R)shook off the dust from their feet against them and went to Iconium. 52 And the disciples were filled (S)with joy and (T)with the Holy Spirit.

44 And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.
45 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy, and spake against those things which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.
46 Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.
47 For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.
48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.
49 And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region.
50 But the Jews stirred up the devout and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts.
51 But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came unto Iconium.
52 And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.
