23 (A)Of this man's offspring God has brought to Israel (B)a Savior, Jesus, (C)as he promised. 24 Before his coming, (D)John had proclaimed (E)a baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel. 25 And as John was finishing his course, (F)he said, ‘What do you suppose that I am? I am not he. No, but behold, after me one is coming, the sandals of whose feet I am not worthy to untie.’

26 “Brothers, sons of the family of Abraham, and those among you (G)who fear God, to us has been sent (H)the message of (I)this salvation. 27 For those who live in Jerusalem and their rulers, because (J)they did not recognize him nor understand (K)the utterances of the prophets, which are read every Sabbath, (L)fulfilled them by condemning him. 28 And (M)though they found in him no guilt worthy of death, (N)they asked Pilate to have him executed. 29 And when (O)they had carried out all that was written of him, (P)they took him down from (Q)the tree and laid him in a tomb. 30 But (R)God raised him from the dead, 31 and for many days (S)he appeared to those (T)who had come up with him (U)from Galilee to Jerusalem, (V)who are now (W)his witnesses to the people. 32 And we bring you the good news (X)that what God promised to the fathers, 33 (Y)this he has fulfilled to us their children by raising Jesus, as also it is written in the second Psalm,

(Z)“‘You are my Son,
    today I have begotten you.’

34 And as for the fact that he raised him from the dead, (AA)(AB)no more to return to corruption, he has spoken in this way,

“‘I will give you (AC)the holy and sure blessings of David.’

35 Therefore he says also in another psalm,

(AD)“‘You will not let your Holy One see corruption.’

36 For David, after he had (AE)served the purpose of God in his own generation, (AF)fell asleep and (AG)was laid with his fathers and saw corruption, 37 but he whom (AH)God raised up did not see corruption.

23 “From this man’s descendants(A) God has brought to Israel the Savior(B) Jesus,(C) as he promised.(D) 24 Before the coming of Jesus, John preached repentance and baptism to all the people of Israel.(E) 25 As John was completing his work,(F) he said: ‘Who do you suppose I am? I am not the one you are looking for.(G) But there is one coming after me whose sandals I am not worthy to untie.’(H)

26 “Fellow children of Abraham(I) and you God-fearing Gentiles, it is to us that this message of salvation(J) has been sent. 27 The people of Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize Jesus,(K) yet in condemning him they fulfilled the words of the prophets(L) that are read every Sabbath. 28 Though they found no proper ground for a death sentence, they asked Pilate to have him executed.(M) 29 When they had carried out all that was written about him,(N) they took him down from the cross(O) and laid him in a tomb.(P) 30 But God raised him from the dead,(Q) 31 and for many days he was seen by those who had traveled with him from Galilee to Jerusalem.(R) They are now his witnesses(S) to our people.

32 “We tell you the good news:(T) What God promised our ancestors(U) 33 he has fulfilled for us, their children, by raising up Jesus.(V) As it is written in the second Psalm:

“‘You are my son;
    today I have become your father.’[a](W)

34 God raised him from the dead so that he will never be subject to decay. As God has said,

“‘I will give you the holy and sure blessings promised to David.’[b](X)

35 So it is also stated elsewhere:

“‘You will not let your holy one see decay.’[c](Y)

36 “Now when David had served God’s purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep;(Z) he was buried with his ancestors(AA) and his body decayed. 37 But the one whom God raised from the dead(AB) did not see decay.
