21 Then they asked for a king, and God gave them Saul son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, who reigned for forty years.(A) 22 When he had removed him, he made David their king. In his testimony about him he said, ‘I have found David, son of Jesse, to be a man after my heart, who will carry out all my wishes.’(B) 23 Of this man’s posterity God has brought to Israel a Savior, Jesus, as he promised;(C)

21 Then the people asked for a king,(A) and he gave them Saul(B) son of Kish, of the tribe of Benjamin,(C) who ruled forty years. 22 After removing Saul,(D) he made David their king.(E) God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart;(F) he will do everything I want him to do.’(G)
23 “From this man’s descendants(H) God has brought to Israel the Savior(I) Jesus,(J) as he promised.(K)
