And when he had seized him, he put him (A)in prison, delivering him over to four (B)squads of soldiers to guard him, intending after the Passover to bring him out to the people. So Peter was kept in prison, but earnest (C)prayer for him was made to God by the church.

Peter Is Rescued

Now when Herod was about to bring him out, on that very night, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, (D)bound with two chains, and sentries before the door were guarding the prison. And behold, (E)an angel of the Lord (F)stood next to him, and a light shone in the cell. (G)He struck Peter on the side and woke him, saying, “Get up quickly.” And (H)the chains fell off his hands.

So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him.(B)

The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains,(C) and sentries stood guard at the entrance. Suddenly an angel(D) of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. “Quick, get up!” he said, and the chains fell off Peter’s wrists.(E)
