(A)He presented himself alive to them after his suffering by many proofs, appearing to them during forty days and speaking about the kingdom of God.

And while staying[a] with them (B)he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, “you heard from me; for (C)John baptized with water, (D)but you will be baptized (E)with[b] the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

The Ascension

So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, (F)will you at this time (G)restore the kingdom to Israel?” He said to them, (H)“It is not for you to know (I)times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. But you will receive (J)power (K)when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and (L)you will be (M)my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and (N)Samaria, and (O)to the end of the earth.”

After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them(A) over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.(B) On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait(C) for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about.(D) For John baptized with[a] water,(E) but in a few days you will be baptized with[b] the Holy Spirit.”(F)

Then they gathered around him and asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore(G) the kingdom to Israel?”

He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority.(H) But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you;(I) and you will be my witnesses(J) in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria,(K) and to the ends of the earth.”(L)
