39 Makirs, Manasses sons, barn drog bort till Gilead och intog det och fördrev amoreerna som bodde där. 40 Mose gav Gilead åt Makir, Manasses son, och han bosatte sig där. 41 Och Jair, Manasses son, drog ut och intog deras byar och kallade dem Jairs byar.

39 The descendants of Makir(A) son of Manasseh went to Gilead,(B) captured it and drove out the Amorites(C) who were there. 40 So Moses gave Gilead to the Makirites,(D) the descendants of Manasseh, and they settled there. 41 Jair,(E) a descendant of Manasseh, captured their settlements and called them Havvoth Jair.[a](F)
