Koras, Datans och Abirams uppror
16 Kora, son till Jishar, son till Kehat, son till Levi, tog med sig både Datan och Abiram, Eliabs söner, och On, Pelets son, av Rubens söner, 2 och gjorde uppror mot Mose. Tvåhundrafemtio män av Israels barn följde dem, furstar i menigheten, valda av folkförsamlingen, ansedda män. 3 De samlade sig mot Mose och Aron och sade till dem: "Nu får det vara nog! Hela menigheten är ju helig, alla är det, och Herren är mitt ibland dem. Varför upphäver ni er då över Herrens församling?"
4 När Mose hörde detta föll han ner på sitt ansikte. 5 Sedan talade han till Kora och hela hans hop och sade: "I morgon skall Herren visa vem som hör honom till, vem som är helig och vem som får komma inför honom. Den han utväljer skall få komma inför honom. 6 Gör så här: Tag era fyrfat, du Kora och hela din hop, 7 och lägg eld i dem och strö rökelse på dem inför Herrens ansikte i morgon. Den man som Herren då utväljer, han är den helige. Nu får det vara nog, ni Levi söner!"
8 Och Mose sade till Kora: "Hör, ni Levi söner! 9 Är det inte nog för er att Israels Gud har avskilt er från Israels menighet för att låta er komma inför sig och göra tjänst i Herrens tabernakel och stå inför menigheten och betjäna den. 10 Han har låtit dig och alla dina bröder, Levi söner, jämte dig komma inför sig. Och nu begär ni också prästämbetet! 11 Det är därför som du och hela din hop har rotat er samman mot Herren. Vem är Aron att ni skulle knota mot honom?"
12 Mose sände bud efter Datan och Abiram, Eliabs söner. Men de sade: "Vi kommer inte. 13 Är det inte nog att du har fört oss hit upp från ett land som flödar av mjölk och honung för att låta oss dö i öknen? Nu vill du också göra dig till herre över oss! 14 Du har sannerligen inte fört oss in i ett land som flödar av mjölk och honung eller gett oss åkrar och vingårdar till arvedel. Vill du sticka ut ögonen på dessa människor? Nej, vi kommer inte!" 15 Då blev Mose mycket vred och sade till Herren: "Se inte till deras offergåva. Inte en enda åsna har jag tagit av dem, och ingen av dem har jag gjort något ont."
16 Mose sade till Kora: "I morgon skall du och hela din hop träda fram inför Herrens ansikte, du själv och de och Aron. 17 Och var och en av er skall ta sitt fyrfat och lägga rökelse på det och bära sitt fyrfat fram inför Herrens ansikte, tvåhundrafemtio fyrfat. Du själv och Aron skall också ta var sitt fyrfat." 18 Och de tog var och en sitt fyrfat och lade eld på det och strödde på rökelse och ställde sig vid ingången till uppenbarelsetältet tillsammans med Mose och Aron. 19 Kora samlade hela menigheten mot dem vid ingången till uppenbarelsetältet.
Då visade sig Herrens härlighet för hela menigheten. 20 Och Herren talade till Mose och Aron. Han sade: 21 "Skilj er från denna menighet, så skall jag i ett ögonblick förgöra dem." 22 Då föll de ner på sina ansikten och sade: "O Gud, den Gud som råder över anden i allt kött, skall du vredgas på hela menigheten därför att en enda man syndar?" 23 Då talade Herren till Mose. Han sade: 24 "Säg till menigheten: Drag er bort från lägerplatsen kring Kora, Datan och Abiram."
25 Mose steg upp och gick till Datan och Abiram, och de äldste i Israel följde honom. 26 Mose talade till menigheten. Han sade: "Vik bort från dessa ogudaktiga människors tält och rör inte något som tillhör dem, så att ni inte förgås genom alla deras synder." 27 Då drog de sig bort från lägerplatsen kring Kora, Datan och Abiram. Men Datan och Abiram kom ut och ställde sig vid ingången till sina tält med sina hustrur och barn, stora och små. 28 Och Mose sade: "Av detta skall ni förstå att det är Herren som har sänt mig att göra alla dessa gärningar. Jag har inte handlat efter eget tycke. 29 Om dessa dör på samma sätt som andra människor och får samma straff som alla andra, då har Herren inte sänt mig. 30 Men om Herren gör något nytt genom att marken spärrar upp sitt gap och uppslukar dem med allt vad de äger så att de far levande ner i dödsriket, då skall ni förstå att dessa människor har föraktat Herren."
31 Just som han hade sagt detta, rämnade marken under dem. 32 Jorden öppnade sitt gap och uppslukade dem och deras hus, allt Koras folk och alla deras ägodelar. 33 De for levande ner i dödsriket med allt vad de ägde, och jorden täckte över dem. Så utrotades de ur församlingen. 34 Hela Israel som stod runt omkring dem flydde vid deras rop, för de sade: "Annars kommer också vi att uppslukas av jorden!"
35 Och eld gick ut från Herren och förtärde de tvåhundrafemtio männen som hade burit fram rökelse.
36 Herren talade till Mose. Han sade: 37 "Säg till Eleasar, prästen Arons son, att han skall ta fyrfaten ut ur branden och kasta elden långt bort, ty de har blivit heliga. 38 Och dessa fyrfat som tillhörde de män som syndade och förlorade sina liv, dem skall man hamra ut till plåtar och täcka altaret med, ty de har varit framburna inför Herrens ansikte och har därför blivit heliga. De skall vara ett tecken för Israels barn." 39 Då tog prästen Eleasar de fyrfat av koppar vilka de som bränts upp hade burit fram, och man hamrade ut dem för att täcka altaret. 40 De skulle vara till en påminnelse för Israels barn så att ingen främling, ingen som inte var av Arons släkt, skulle träda fram och antända rökelse inför Herrens ansikte, för att inte bli som Kora och hans hop - allt i enlighet med vad Herren hade sagt honom genom Mose.
Folket knotar
41 Men dagen efter knotade hela Israels menighet mot Mose och Aron och sade: "Det är ni som har dödat Herrens folk!" 42 Och det hände att när menigheten samlades mot Mose och Aron och de vände sig mot uppenbarelsetältet, se, då övertäcktes det av molnskyn och Herrens härlighet visade sig. 43 Mose och Aron gick fram inför uppenbarelsetältet, 44 och Herren sade till Mose: 45 "Gå bort ifrån denna menighet, så skall jag i ett ögonblick förgöra dem." Då föll de ner på sina ansikten.
46 Och Mose sade till Aron: "Tag ditt fyrfat och lägg eld från altaret på det och strö på rökelse och bär det genast till menigheten och bringa försoning för dem, ty vrede har gått ut från Herrens ansikte, hemsökelsen har börjat." 47 Aron tog det Mose hade sagt och skyndade mitt in i församlingen. Och se, hemsökelsen hade redan börjat bland folket. Aron lade på rökelse och bringade försoning för folket. 48 Han stod mellan de döda och de levande, och hemsökelsen upphörde. 49 De som hade dött genom hemsökelsen utgjorde 14 700 förutom dem som dog för Koras skull. 50 Sedan vände Aron tillbaka till Mose vid uppenbarelsetältets ingång, ty hemsökelsen hade upphört.

Uppror i lägret
16 En dag började leviten Kora, son till Jishar, sonson till Kehat, och några män från Rubens stam, Datan och Abiram, Eliabs söner, och On, Pelets son,
2 att intala folket att göra uppror mot Mose. På deras sida stod 250 förtroendevalda ledare.
3 De gick till Mose och Aron och sa: Nu har vi fått nog av er överlägsna attityd. Ni är inte bättre än några andra. Alla i Israel har blivit utvalda av Gud, och han är med oss allesammans. Vad har ni för rättighet att framhålla er själva som ni gör och påstå att vi måste lyda er? Hur kan ni med att sätta er över folkets vilja?
4 När Mose hörde detta föll han ner på marken med ansiktet mot jorden,
5 och sedan sa han till Kora och dem som var med honom: I morgon ska Herren visa vem som tillhör honom, vem som är helig och vem han har utsett att vara präst åt sig.
6-7 Så här ska ni göra: Du Kora, och de andra som är med dig, ska i morgon ta rökelsekar och tända dem. Lägg rökelse i dem inför Herren, så ska vi få reda på vem det är Herren har utvalt. Ni leviter har gått för långt!
8-9 Sedan sa Mose, vänd till Kora: Tycker du inte att det är tillräckligt hedrande att Israels Gud har utvalt er leviter bland alla andra i Israel och att han låter er komma så nära sig när ni tjänar honom i hans tabernakel och står framför folket och tjänar det?
10 Säger det er ingenting att det bara är leviterna som fått sådana uppdrag? Nu vill ni alltså göra anspråk på att få vara präster också!
11-12 Det är väl det ni är ute efter när ni nu har gjort uppror mot Herren. Och vad har egentligen Aron gjort, eftersom ni är så missnöjda med honom? Därefter kallade Mose till sig Datan och Abiram, Eliabs söner, men de vägrade att komma.
13 Är det inte illa nog att du ledde oss bort från det härliga Egypten för att döda oss här i öknen? sa de. Nu tänker du göra dig till kung över oss också!
14 Dessutom har du inte lett oss in i det underbara landet som du lovade, och inte heller gett oss åkrar eller vingårdar. Försöker du driva med oss? Nej, vi tänker inte komma.
15 Då blev Mose förargad och sa till Herren: Ta inte emot deras offer! Jag har inte stulit så mycket som en åsna från dem och har inte gjort dem något ont.
16 Och till Kora sa han: Kom hit i morgon och ställ dig inför Herren med alla dina vänner. Aron kommer också att vara här.
17 Se till att ni har med er rökelsekaren med rökelse. Var och en ska ha sitt eget rökelsekar, så att det blir sammanlagt 250 stycken. Aron ska också ha sitt med sig.
18 De gjorde som Mose hade befallt. De kom dit med sina rökelsekar, tände dem, lade rökelsen i dem och stod vid ingången till tabernaklet, tillsammans med Mose och Aron.
19 När Kora hade samlat alla sina anhängare vid ingången till tabernaklet visade sig Herrens härlighet för allt folket,
20 och Herren sa till Mose och Aron:
21 Gå bort från dem, så att jag kan döda dem omedelbart.
22 Men Mose och Aron kastade sig ner på marken inför Herren och sa: Gud, du hela mänsklighetens Gud, måste du bli så utom dig av vrede att du låter det gå ut över hela detta folk, bara för att en man syndar?
Guds straff för upproret
23-24 Då sa Herren till Mose: Säg till folket att hålla sig borta från Koras, Datans och Abirams tält.
25 Mose skyndade då bort till Datans och Abirams tält, följd av ledarna.
26 Akta er!, ropade han till folket. Var inte i närheten av dessa ogudaktiga mäns tält, och rör ingenting som är deras, så att ni inte blir inblandade i deras synder och dödade tillsammans med dem.
27 Alla drog sig då undan från Koras, Datans och Abirams tält, medan Datan och Abiram kom ut och ställde sig vid ingången till sina tält tillsammans med hustrur och barn.
28 Och Mose sa: Genom det här ska ni förstå att det är Herren som har sänt mig att utföra allt det jag gjort och att jag inte har gjort det av mig själv.
29 Om de här människorna dör en naturlig död, då har inte Herren sänt mig.
30 Men om Herren gör ett under så att marken öppnar sig och slukar dem med allt de äger och har, så att de far ner levande till dödsriket, då ska ni veta att dessa män har föraktat Herren.
31 Mose hann knappt tala till punkt, förrän marken plötsligt öppnades under dem,
32 och jorden uppslukade dem tillsammans med deras familjer och tillhörigheter. Allt de ägde försvann i djupet.
33 De blev levande begravda, marken slöt sig sedan över dem och de var borta.
34 Alla flydde vid deras skrik, rädda för att ryckas med,
35 och eld kom ner från Herren och förtärde de 250 män som offrade rökelse.
36-37 Herren sa till Mose: Säg till Eleasar, prästen Arons son, att ta vara på rökelsekaren ur askan, för de är heliga, avskilda åt Herren. De glödande kolen ska han kasta bort,
38 för männen dog på grund av sin synd. Sedan ska han hamra ut metallen till plåtar och täcka altaret med dem. Rökelsekaren var heliga därför att de använts inför Herren, och altarplåtarna ska finnas där som en påminnelse för Israels folk.
39 Prästen Eleasar tog då de 250 rökelsekaren av koppar och hamrade ut dem till metallplåtar att täcka altaret med.
40 Detta skulle vara en påminnelse för Israels folk om att ingen obehörig, ingen som inte var ättling till Aron, fick komma inför Herren och bränna rökelse, för då kunde det som hände med Kora och hans anhängare hända honom. Allt detta var enligt de föreskrifter som Herren gett Mose.
41 Men redan följande morgon började folket anklaga Mose och Aron igen och ropa: Ni har dödat Herrens folk.
42 Snart hade en missnöjd och uppretad folkhop samlats, och medan de stod där och såg upp mot tabernaklet visade sig plötsligt molnet med Herrens härlighet.
43-44 Då kom Mose och Aron och ställde sig vid ingången till tabernaklet, och Herren sa till Mose:
45 Skynda dig bort från detta folk, så att jag omedelbart kan döda det.Men Mose och Aron föll ner på marken inför Herren.
46 Ta ett rökelsekar och lägg eld från altaret i det, sa Mose därefter till Aron. Lägg på rökelse och bär det omedelbart ut bland folket för att försona det. Jag känner Guds vrede, och pest har redan drabbat dem.
47 Aron gjorde som Mose hade sagt till honom och sprang ut bland folket. Pesten hade redan börjat härja. Han lade på rökelse och skaffade försoning för dem alla,
48 och när han stod där, mitt bland levande och döda, upphörde plötsligt pesten.
49 Men då hade redan 14.700 människor hunnit dö, förutom dem som dött dagen innan tillsammans med Kora.
50 När Aron återvände till Mose vid ingången till tabernaklet hade pesten upphört helt.

Korah Incites Rebellion
16 Now Korah son of Izhar, son of Kohath, son of Levi,(A) with Dathan and Abiram,(B) sons of Eliab, and On son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took 2 two hundred fifty prominent Israelite men who were leaders of the community and representatives in the assembly, and they rebelled against Moses. 3 They came together against Moses and Aaron and told them, “You have gone too far! Everyone in the entire community is holy, and the Lord is among them.(C) Why then do you exalt yourselves above the Lord’s assembly?”
4 When Moses heard this, he fell facedown. 5 Then he said to Korah and all his followers, “Tomorrow morning the Lord will reveal who belongs to him, who is set apart, and the one he will let come near(D) him. He will let the one he chooses(E) come near him. 6 Korah, you and all your followers are to do this: take firepans,(F) and tomorrow 7 place fire in them and put incense on them before the Lord.(G) Then the man the Lord chooses will be the one who is set apart.(H) It is you Levites who have gone too far!”
8 Moses also told Korah, “Now listen, Levites! 9 Isn’t it enough for you that the God of Israel has separated you from the Israelite community to bring you near to himself,(I) to perform the work at the Lord’s tabernacle, and to stand before the community to minister to them?(J) 10 He has brought you near, and all your fellow Levites who are with you, but you are pursuing the priesthood(K) as well. 11 Therefore, it is you and all your followers who have conspired against the Lord!(L) As for Aaron, who is he[a] that you should complain about him?”
12 Moses sent for Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, but they said, “We will not come! 13 Is it not enough that you brought us up from a land flowing with milk and honey to kill us in the wilderness?(M) Do you also have to appoint yourself as ruler over us? 14 Furthermore, you didn’t bring us to a land flowing with milk and honey or give us an inheritance of fields and vineyards. Will you gouge out the eyes of these men?(N) We will not come!”
15 Then Moses became angry and said to the Lord, “Don’t respect their offering. I have not taken one donkey from them or mistreated a single one of them.” 16 So Moses told Korah, “You and all your followers are to appear before the Lord tomorrow—you, they, and Aaron. 17 Each of you is to take his firepan, place incense on it, and present his firepan before the Lord—250 firepans. You and Aaron are each to present your firepan also.”
18 Each man took his firepan, placed fire in it, put incense on it, and stood at the entrance to the tent of meeting along with Moses and Aaron. 19 After Korah assembled the whole community against them at the entrance to the tent of meeting, the glory of the Lord(O) appeared to the whole community. 20 The Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, 21 “Separate yourselves from this community so I may consume them instantly.”(P)
22 But Moses and Aaron fell facedown(Q) and said, “God, God who gives breath to all,[b](R) when one man sins, will you vent your wrath on the whole community?” (S)
23 The Lord replied to Moses, 24 “Tell the community: Get away from the dwellings of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.”
25 Moses got up and went to Dathan and Abiram, and the elders of Israel followed him. 26 He warned the community, “Get away now from the tents of these wicked men. Don’t touch anything that belongs to them,(T) or you will be swept away because of all their sins.”(U) 27 So they got away from the dwellings of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram. Meanwhile, Dathan and Abiram came out and stood at the entrance of their tents with their wives, children, and infants.
28 Then Moses said, “This is how you will know that the Lord sent me(V) to do all these things and that it was not of my own will: 29 If these men die naturally as all people would, and suffer the fate of all, then the Lord has not sent me. 30 But if the Lord brings about something unprecedented, and the ground opens its mouth and swallows them along with all that belongs to them so that they go down alive into Sheol,(W) then you will know that these men have despised the Lord.”
31 Just as he finished speaking all these words, the ground beneath them split open. 32 The earth opened its mouth and swallowed them and their households, all Korah’s people,(X) and all their possessions. 33 They went down alive into Sheol with all that belonged to them. The earth closed over them, and they vanished from the assembly. 34 At their cries, all the people of Israel who were around them fled because they thought, “The earth may swallow us too!” 35 Fire also came out from the Lord and consumed the 250 men who were presenting the incense.(Y)
36 Then the Lord spoke to Moses: 37 “Tell Eleazar son of Aaron the priest to remove the firepans from the burning debris, because they are holy, and scatter the fire far away. 38 As for the firepans of those who sinned at the cost of their own lives, make them into hammered sheets as plating for the altar, for they presented them before the Lord, and the firepans are holy. They will be a sign to the Israelites.”
39 So the priest Eleazar took the bronze firepans that those who were burned had presented, and they were hammered into plating for the altar, 40 just as the Lord commanded him through Moses. It was to be a reminder for the Israelites that no unauthorized person outside the lineage of Aaron should approach to offer incense before the Lord(Z) and become like Korah and his followers.
41 The next day the entire Israelite community complained about Moses and Aaron,(AA) saying, “You have killed the Lord’s people!” 42 When the community assembled against them, Moses and Aaron turned toward the tent of meeting, and suddenly the cloud covered it, and the Lord’s glory appeared.
43 Moses and Aaron went to the front of the tent of meeting, 44 and the Lord said to Moses, 45 “Get away from this community so that I may consume them instantly.”(AB) But they fell facedown.
46 Then Moses told Aaron, “Take your firepan, place fire from the altar in it, and add incense. Go quickly to the community and make atonement for them, because wrath has come from the Lord; the plague has begun.” 47 So Aaron took his firepan as Moses had ordered, ran into the middle of the assembly, and saw that the plague had begun among the people. After he added incense, he made atonement for the people. 48 He stood between the dead and the living, and the plague was halted. 49 But those who died from the plague numbered 14,700, in addition to those who died because of the Korah incident. 50 Aaron then returned to Moses at the entrance to the tent of meeting, since the plague had been halted.(AC)

Korah, Dathan and Abiram
16 Korah(A) son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and certain Reubenites—Dathan and Abiram(B), sons of Eliab,(C) and On son of Peleth—became insolent[a] 2 and rose up against Moses.(D) With them were 250 Israelite men, well-known community leaders who had been appointed members of the council.(E) 3 They came as a group to oppose Moses and Aaron(F) and said to them, “You have gone too far! The whole community is holy,(G) every one of them, and the Lord is with them.(H) Why then do you set yourselves above the Lord’s assembly?”(I)
4 When Moses heard this, he fell facedown.(J) 5 Then he said to Korah and all his followers: “In the morning the Lord will show who belongs to him and who is holy,(K) and he will have that person come near him.(L) The man he chooses(M) he will cause to come near him. 6 You, Korah, and all your followers(N) are to do this: Take censers(O) 7 and tomorrow put burning coals(P) and incense(Q) in them before the Lord. The man the Lord chooses(R) will be the one who is holy.(S) You Levites have gone too far!”
8 Moses also said to Korah, “Now listen, you Levites! 9 Isn’t it enough(T) for you that the God of Israel has separated you from the rest of the Israelite community and brought you near himself to do the work at the Lord’s tabernacle and to stand before the community and minister to them?(U) 10 He has brought you and all your fellow Levites near himself, but now you are trying to get the priesthood too.(V) 11 It is against the Lord that you and all your followers have banded together. Who is Aaron that you should grumble(W) against him?(X)”
12 Then Moses summoned Dathan and Abiram,(Y) the sons of Eliab. But they said, “We will not come!(Z) 13 Isn’t it enough that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey(AA) to kill us in the wilderness?(AB) And now you also want to lord it over us!(AC) 14 Moreover, you haven’t brought us into a land flowing with milk and honey(AD) or given us an inheritance of fields and vineyards.(AE) Do you want to treat these men like slaves[b]?(AF) No, we will not come!(AG)”
15 Then Moses became very angry(AH) and said to the Lord, “Do not accept their offering. I have not taken so much as a donkey(AI) from them, nor have I wronged any of them.”
16 Moses said to Korah, “You and all your followers are to appear before the Lord tomorrow—you and they and Aaron.(AJ) 17 Each man is to take his censer and put incense in it—250 censers in all—and present it before the Lord. You and Aaron are to present your censers also.(AK)” 18 So each of them took his censer,(AL) put burning coals and incense in it, and stood with Moses and Aaron at the entrance to the tent of meeting. 19 When Korah had gathered all his followers in opposition to them(AM) at the entrance to the tent of meeting, the glory of the Lord(AN) appeared to the entire assembly. 20 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron, 21 “Separate yourselves(AO) from this assembly so I can put an end to them at once.”(AP)
22 But Moses and Aaron fell facedown(AQ) and cried out, “O God, the God who gives breath to all living things,(AR) will you be angry with the entire assembly(AS) when only one man sins?”(AT)
23 Then the Lord said to Moses, 24 “Say to the assembly, ‘Move away from the tents of Korah, Dathan and Abiram.’”
25 Moses got up and went to Dathan and Abiram, and the elders of Israel(AU) followed him. 26 He warned the assembly, “Move back from the tents of these wicked men!(AV) Do not touch anything belonging to them, or you will be swept away(AW) because of all their sins.(AX)” 27 So they moved away from the tents of Korah, Dathan and Abiram.(AY) Dathan and Abiram had come out and were standing with their wives, children(AZ) and little ones at the entrances to their tents.(BA)
28 Then Moses said, “This is how you will know(BB) that the Lord has sent me(BC) to do all these things and that it was not my idea: 29 If these men die a natural death and suffer the fate of all mankind, then the Lord has not sent me.(BD) 30 But if the Lord brings about something totally new, and the earth opens its mouth(BE) and swallows them, with everything that belongs to them, and they go down alive into the realm of the dead,(BF) then you will know that these men have treated the Lord with contempt.(BG)”
31 As soon as he finished saying all this, the ground under them split apart(BH) 32 and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them(BI) and their households, and all those associated with Korah, together with their possessions. 33 They went down alive into the realm of the dead,(BJ) with everything they owned; the earth closed over them, and they perished and were gone from the community. 34 At their cries, all the Israelites around them fled, shouting, “The earth is going to swallow us too!”
35 And fire came out from the Lord(BK) and consumed(BL) the 250 men who were offering the incense.
36 The Lord said to Moses, 37 “Tell Eleazar(BM) son of Aaron, the priest, to remove the censers(BN) from the charred remains and scatter the coals some distance away, for the censers are holy— 38 the censers of the men who sinned at the cost of their lives.(BO) Hammer the censers into sheets to overlay the altar,(BP) for they were presented before the Lord and have become holy. Let them be a sign(BQ) to the Israelites.”
39 So Eleazar the priest(BR) collected the bronze censers brought by those who had been burned to death,(BS) and he had them hammered out to overlay the altar, 40 as the Lord directed him through Moses. This was to remind the Israelites that no one except a descendant of Aaron should come to burn incense(BT) before the Lord,(BU) or he would become like Korah and his followers.(BV)
41 The next day the whole Israelite community grumbled against Moses and Aaron. “You have killed the Lord’s people,” they said.
42 But when the assembly gathered in opposition(BW) to Moses and Aaron and turned toward the tent of meeting, suddenly the cloud covered it and the glory of the Lord(BX) appeared. 43 Then Moses and Aaron went to the front of the tent of meeting, 44 and the Lord said to Moses, 45 “Get away from this assembly so I can put an end(BY) to them at once.” And they fell facedown.
46 Then Moses said to Aaron, “Take your censer(BZ) and put incense in it, along with burning coals from the altar, and hurry to the assembly(CA) to make atonement(CB) for them. Wrath has come out from the Lord;(CC) the plague(CD) has started.” 47 So Aaron did as Moses said, and ran into the midst of the assembly. The plague had already started among the people,(CE) but Aaron offered the incense and made atonement for them. 48 He stood between the living and the dead, and the plague stopped.(CF) 49 But 14,700 people died from the plague, in addition to those who had died because of Korah.(CG) 50 Then Aaron returned to Moses at the entrance to the tent of meeting, for the plague had stopped.[c]
