Not Ashamed of the Gospel

So don’t be ashamed(A) of the testimony about our Lord,(B) or of me his prisoner.(C) Instead, share in suffering for the gospel, relying on the power(D) of God. He has saved us and called us with a holy calling,(E) not according to our works,(F) but according to his own purpose(G) and grace, which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began. 10 This has now been made evident through the appearing(H) of our Savior Christ Jesus, who has abolished death(I) and has brought life(J) and immortality to light through the gospel. 11 For this gospel I was appointed(K) a herald, apostle, and teacher,[a] 12 and that is why I suffer(L) these things. But I am not ashamed, because I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that he is able to guard what has been entrusted to me[b](M) until that day.(N)

Exhortation to Share Paul’s Suffering

Therefore, do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor me his prisoner, but suffer along with me for the gospel, according to the power of God, who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works but according to his own purpose and grace that was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began[a], 10 but has now been disclosed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ,[b] who has abolished death and brought to light life and immortality through the gospel, 11 for which I was appointed a proclaimer and an apostle and a teacher, 12 for which reason also I suffer these things. But I am not ashamed, because I know in whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted until that day.
