Legacy Standard Bible
3 (A)I am grateful to God, whom I (B)serve with a (C)clear conscience [a]the way my forefathers did, (D)as I unceasingly remember you in my [b]prayers night and day, 4 (E)longing to see you, (F)having remembered your tears, so that I may be filled with joy, 5 [c]being reminded of the (G)unhypocritical faith within you, which first dwelt in your grandmother Lois and (H)your mother Eunice, and I am convinced that it is in you as well. 6 For this reason I remind you to kindle afresh (I)the gift of God which is in you through (J)the laying on of my hands. 7 For God has not given us a (K)spirit of [d]timidity, but of power and love and [e]self-discipline.

Thanksgiving and Encouragement
3 I thank God whom I serve with a clear conscience, as did my fathers, when I remember you constantly in my prayers. 4 As I remember your tears, I long night and day to see you, that I may be filled with joy. 5 I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lo′is and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you. 6 Hence I remind you to rekindle the gift of God that is within you through the laying on of my hands; 7 for God did not give us a spirit of timidity but a spirit of power and love and self-control.
