The Judgment at Christ's Coming

This is (A)evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be (B)considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are also suffering— since indeed God considers it (C)just (D)to repay with affliction those who afflict you, and to grant (E)relief to you who are afflicted as well as to us, when (F)the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven (G)with his mighty angels (H)in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those (I)who do not know God and on those who (J)do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will suffer the punishment of (K)eternal destruction, (L)away from[a] the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might, 10 (M)when he comes on (N)that day (O)to be glorified in his saints, and to be marveled at among all who have believed, because our (P)testimony to you (Q)was believed.

  1. 2 Thessalonians 1:9 Or destruction that comes from

This is evidence of God’s righteous judgment and is intended to make you worthy of God’s kingdom, for which you are suffering. Certainly it is right for God to pay back those who afflict you with affliction, and to give us who are afflicted relief when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in blazing fire. He will take revenge on those who do not know God and on those who refuse to obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. Such people will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction by being separated from the Lord’s presence and from his glorious power 10 when he comes to be glorified by his saints and to be regarded with wonder on that day by all who have believed—including you, because you believed our testimony.
