2 Thessalonians 1:5-10

⁵This is ^[a]a ^(A)plain indication of God’s righteous judgment so that you will be ^(B)considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you indeed are suffering. ⁶^[b]For after all ^(C)it is only right ^[c]for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you, ⁷and to give relief to you who are afflicted, along with us, ^[d]^(D)when the Lord Jesus will be revealed ^(E)from heaven ^(F)with ^[e]His mighty angels ⁸^(G)in flaming fire, dealing out retribution to those who ^(H)do not know God, and to those who ^(I)do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. ⁹These people will pay the penalty of ^(J)eternal destruction, ^(K)away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, ¹⁰when He comes to be ^(L)glorified among His ^[f]saints on that ^(M)day, and to be marveled at among all who have believed—because our ^(N)testimony to you was believed.

⁵which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God; to the end that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer: ⁶if so be that it is a righteous thing with God to recompense affliction to them that afflict you, ⁷and to you that are afflicted rest with us, at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with the angels of his power in flaming fire, ⁸rendering vengeance to them that know not God, and to them that obey not the ^[a]gospel of our Lord Jesus: ⁹who shall suffer punishment, even eternal destruction from the face of the Lord and from the glory of his might, ¹⁰when he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be marvelled at in all them that believed (because our testimony unto you was believed) in that day.

⁵All this is evidence^(A) that God’s judgment is right, and as a result you will be counted worthy^(B) of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering. ⁶God is just:^(C) He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you^(D) ⁷and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven^(E) in blazing fire^(F) with his powerful angels.^(G) ⁸He will punish^(H) those who do not know God^(I) and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.^(J) ⁹They will be punished with everlasting destruction^(K) and shut out from the presence of the Lord^(L) and from the glory of his might^(M) ¹⁰on the day^(N) he comes to be glorified^(O) in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you.^(P)
