15 So David reigned over all Israel. And David administered justice and equity to all his people. 16 (A)Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the army, and (B)Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder, 17 and (C)Zadok the son of Ahitub and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar were priests, and (D)Seraiah was secretary, 18 and (E)Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over[a] the (F)Cherethites and the Pelethites, and David's sons were priests.

15 David reigned over all of Israel, administering[a] justice and equity to every one of his people. 16 Zeruiah’s son Joab served in charge of the army, Ahilud’s son Jehoshaphat was his personal archivist,[b] 17 Ahitub’s son Zadok and Abiathar’s son Ahimelech were priests, Seraiah[c] was his personal secretary,[d] 18 Jehoida’s son Benaiah supervised the special forces[e] and mercenaries,[f] and David’s sons were priests.[g]
