2 Samuel 24:22-25
Contemporary English Version
22 Araunah said, “Take whatever you want and offer your sacrifice. Here are some oxen for the sacrifice. You can use the threshing-boards[a] and the wooden yokes for the fire. 23 Take them—they're yours! I hope the Lord your God will be pleased with you.”
24 But David answered, “No! I have to pay you what they're worth. I can't offer the Lord my God a sacrifice that cost me nothing.” So David bought the threshing place and the oxen for 50 pieces of silver. 25 Then he built an altar for the Lord. He offered sacrifices to please the Lord and to ask for his blessings.
The Lord answered the prayers of the people, and no one else died from the terrible disease.

2 Samuel 24:22-25
New International Version
22 Araunah said to David, “Let my lord the king take whatever he wishes and offer it up. Here are oxen(A) for the burnt offering, and here are threshing sledges and ox yokes for the wood. 23 Your Majesty, Araunah[a] gives(B) all this to the king.” Araunah also said to him, “May the Lord your God accept you.”
24 But the king replied to Araunah, “No, I insist on paying you for it. I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.”(C)
So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen and paid fifty shekels[b](D) of silver for them. 25 David built an altar(E) to the Lord there and sacrificed burnt offerings and fellowship offerings. Then the Lord answered his prayer(F) in behalf of the land, and the plague on Israel was stopped.
