³David sände bud och hörde sig för om kvinnan. ”Det är Bat-Seba,^[a] dotter till Eliam och hustru till hetiten Uria”,^[b] sade man.

11:3 Bat-Seba Betyder ”edsdotter”. Hennes far Eliam var en av Davids trettio hjältar, tillsammans med hetiten Uria (23:34, 39), och troligen son till Davids rådgivare Ahitofel (15:12).
11:3 hetiten Uria Betyder ”Herren är mitt ljus”. Hetiterna var ett krigarfolk från nuvarande Turkiet. Många hetiter hade bott i Kanaans land sedan Abrahams tid (1 Mos 23, se även 1 Sam 26:6).
