2 Samuel 8:13-18
New International Version
13 And David became famous(A) after he returned from striking down eighteen thousand Edomites[a] in the Valley of Salt.(B)
14 He put garrisons throughout Edom, and all the Edomites(C) became subject to David.(D) The Lord gave David victory(E) wherever he went.(F)

15 David reigned over all Israel, doing what was just and right(H) for all his people. 16 Joab(I) son of Zeruiah was over the army; Jehoshaphat(J) son of Ahilud was recorder;(K) 17 Zadok(L) son of Ahitub and Ahimelek son of Abiathar(M) were priests; Seraiah was secretary;(N) 18 Benaiah(O) son of Jehoiada was over the Kerethites(P) and Pelethites; and David’s sons were priests.[b]
