Naaman healed of leprosy
5 Now Naaman was commander of the army of the king of Aram. He was a great man in the sight of his master and highly regarded, because through him the Lord had given victory to Aram. He was a valiant soldier, but he had leprosy.[a]
2 Now bands of raiders from Aram had gone out and had taken captive a young girl from Israel, and she served Naaman’s wife. 3 She said to her mistress, ‘If only my master would see the prophet who is in Samaria! He would cure him of his leprosy.’
4 Naaman went to his master and told him what the girl from Israel had said. 5 ‘By all means, go,’ the king of Aram replied. ‘I will send a letter to the king of Israel.’ So Naaman left, taking with him ten talents[b] of silver, six thousand shekels[c] of gold and ten sets of clothing. 6 The letter that he took to the king of Israel read: ‘With this letter I am sending my servant Naaman to you so that you may cure him of his leprosy.’
7 As soon as the king of Israel read the letter, he tore his robes and said, ‘Am I God? Can I kill and bring back to life? Why does this fellow send someone to me to be cured of his leprosy? See how he is trying to pick a quarrel with me!’
8 When Elisha the man of God heard that the king of Israel had torn his robes, he sent him this message: ‘Why have you torn your robes? Make the man come to me and he will know that there is a prophet in Israel.’ 9 So Naaman went with his horses and chariots and stopped at the door of Elisha’s house. 10 Elisha sent a messenger to say to him, ‘Go, wash yourself seven times in the Jordan, and your flesh will be restored and you will be cleansed.’
11 But Naaman went away angry and said, ‘I thought that he would surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, wave his hand over the spot and cure me of my leprosy. 12 Are not Abana and Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Couldn’t I wash in them and be cleansed?’ So he turned and went off in a rage.
13 Naaman’s servants went to him and said, ‘My father, if the prophet had told you to do some great thing, would you not have done it? How much more, then, when he tells you, “Wash and be cleansed”!’ 14 So he went down and dipped himself in the Jordan seven times, as the man of God had told him, and his flesh was restored and became clean like that of a young boy.

5 시리아군의 총사령관 나아만은 자기 왕의 총애를 한몸에 받고 있었다. 이것은 그가 여호와의 도움으로 시리아군에게 승리를 안겨다 주었기 때문이었다. 이와 같이 그는 훌륭한 장군이었지만 문둥병자였다.
2 전에 시리아 사람들이 떼를 지어 나가서 이스라엘 소녀 하나를 잡아온 적이 있는데 그 소녀는 나아만의 아내를 시중드는 하녀가 되었다.
3 어느 날 그 하녀는 자기 주인에게 이렇게 말하였다. “주인 어른께서 사마리아에 사는 예언자를 한번 찾아가 봤으면 좋겠습니다. 아마 그가 주인 어른의 병을 고쳐 주실 것입니다.”
4 나아만은 이 말을 듣고 왕에게 가서 그 소녀 이야기를 하였다.
5 그러자 왕이 “갔다오너라. 내가 이스라엘 왕에게 드릴 편지도 한 장 써 주겠다” 하였다. 그래서 나아만은 [a]은 340킬로그램과 금 약 68킬로그램과 의복 10벌을 가지고 이스라엘로 갔는데
6 그가 이스라엘 왕에게 전한 그 편지 내용은 다음과 같았다. “내가 이 편지와 함께 내 신하 나아만을 당신에게 보냅니다. 아무쪼록 이 사람의 문둥병을 고쳐 주시기 바랍니다.”
7 그러나 이스라엘 왕은 그 편지를 읽고 나서 자기 옷을 찢으며 이렇게 외쳤다. “내가 사람을 죽이고 살리는 하나님이란 말인가? 어째서 문둥병자를 고치라고 나에게 보냈는가? 시리아 왕이 나에게 시빗거리를 찾는 것이 틀림없다!”
8 하나님의 사람 엘리사가 이스라엘 왕이 자기 옷을 찢었다는 말을 듣고 이런 전갈을 보냈다. “왕은 어째서 그처럼 걱정하십니까? 그 사람을 나에게 보내십시오. 이스라엘에 예언자가 있다는 것을 내가 그에게 보여 주겠습니다.”
9 그래서 나아만은 자기 말과 전차들을 이끌고 가서 엘리사의 집 문 앞에 멈춰 섰다.
10 그러자 엘리사는 사람을 그에게 보내 요단강에 가서 몸을 일곱 번 씻으면 문둥병이 깨끗이 나을 것이라고 일러 주게 하였다.
11 그러나 나아만은 화가 나서 그 곳을 떠나며 말하였다. “나는 그가 직접 나와서 상처를 어루만지며 그의 하나님 여호와께 기도하여 내 병을 고쳐 줄 것으로 생각하였다.
12 다마스커스에는 이스라엘의 그 어느 강보다도 좋은 아바나와 바르발 강이 있지 않은가? 나는 거기서 몸을 씻어도 깨끗이 나을 수 있다.” 그러고서 그는 격분하여 돌아가려고 하였다.
13 그러자 그의 부하들이 다가서며 말하였다. “만일 그 예언자가 이보다 더 어려운 일을 하라고 명령했다면 장군은 그것을 하지 않았겠습니까? 그러나 몸을 씻고 깨끗이 되라고 말씀하셨는데 어째서 장군은 그것도 못하십니까?”
14 그래서 나아만은 요단강으로 가서 강물에 몸을 일곱 번 담갔다. 그러자 정말 엘리사의 말대로 문둥병이 깨끗이 나아 그의 살결이 어린 아이 살결처럼 되었다.

Not circumcision but the new creation
11 See what large letters I use as I write to you with my own hand!
12 Those who want to impress people by means of the flesh are trying to compel you to be circumcised. The only reason they do this is to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ. 13 Not even those who are circumcised keep the law, yet they want you to be circumcised that they may boast about your circumcision in the flesh. 14 May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which[a] the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. 15 Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is the new creation. 16 Peace and mercy to all who follow this rule – to[b] the Israel of God.

마지막 경고와 작별 인사
11 내가 손수 여러분에게 이렇게 큰 글자로 쓰는 것을 보십시오.
12 겉치레만을 일삼는 사람들이 여러분에게 억지로 할례를 받으라고 강요하고 있습니다. 그들이 이렇게 하는 단 한 가지 이유는 그리스도의 십자가로 인한 핍박을 피하기 위한 것입니다.
13 할례를 받은 사람들이 자기들도 율법을 지키지 않으면서 여러분이 할례받기를 원하는 것은 여러분이 여러분의 육체를 자랑하도록 하려는 것입니다.
14 그러나 나에게는 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 [a]십자가 외에는 결코 자랑할 것이 없습니다. 이 십자가를 통해서 세상이 나에 대하여 죽었고 나도 세상에 대해서 죽었습니다.
15 할례를 받고 안 받는 것이 문제가 아니라 새사람이 되는 것이 중요합니다.
16 하나님께서 이 원리를 따라 사는 사람들과 하나님의 백성 이스라엘에게 평안과 자비를 내려 주시기를 기도합니다.

Jesus sends out the seventy-two
10 After this the Lord appointed seventy-two[a] others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. 2 He told them, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. 3 Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. 4 Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road.
5 ‘When you enter a house, first say, “Peace to this house.” 6 If someone who promotes peace is there, your peace will rest on them; if not, it will return to you. 7 Stay there, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from house to house.
8 ‘When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is offered to you. 9 Heal those there who are ill and tell them, “The kingdom of God has come near to you.” 10 But when you enter a town and are not welcomed, go into its streets and say, 11 “Even the dust of your town we wipe from our feet as a warning to you. Yet be sure of this: the kingdom of God has come near.”

2 이렇게 말씀하셨다. “추수할 것은 많으나 일꾼이 적다. 그러니 주인에게 추수할 일꾼들을 보내 달라고 하여라.
3 자, 출발하여라. 내가 너희를 보내는 것이 어린 양을 이리떼 속으로 보내는 것과 같다.
4 너희는 지갑이나 가방이나 신발을 가지고 다니지 말며 [b]길에서 인사하느라고 시간을 낭비하지 말아라.
5 어느 집에 들어가든지 먼저 그 집에 평안을 빌어 주어라.
6 만일 [c]평안의 축복을 받을 만한 사람이 거기 있으면 너희가 빈 평안이 그에게 내릴 것이고 그렇지 못하면 그 평안이 너희에게 되돌아올 것이다.
