Elisha Promises Food

But Elisha said, “Hear the word of the Lord: thus says the Lord, (A)Tomorrow about this time a seah[a] of fine flour shall be sold for a shekel,[b] and two seahs of barley for a shekel, at the gate of Samaria.” Then (B)the captain on whose hand the king leaned said to the man of God, (C)“If the Lord himself should make windows in heaven, could this thing be?” But he said, “You shall see it with your own eyes, but you shall not eat of it.”

Elisha Predicts Deliverance the Next Day

So Elisha responded, “Listen to this message from the Lord! ‘This is what the Lord says: “At about this time tomorrow, in Samaria’s city gate, a seah[a] of finely ground flour will sell for a shekel, and two seahs of barley for a shekel.”’”

But the royal attendant on whom the king depended responded to the man of God: “Look here! Even if the Lord were to open a window in the sky, how could this happen?”

He replied, “No, you look! You’ll see it with your eyes, but you won’t eat any of it!”
