Hezekiah’s Prayer

14 Then (A)Hezekiah took the [a]letter from the hand of the messengers and read it, and he went up to the house of the Lord and [b]spread it out before the Lord. 15 Hezekiah prayed before the Lord and said, “Lord, God of Israel, [c](B)enthroned above the cherubim, (C)You are the God, You alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth. 16 (D)Incline Your ear, Lord, and hear; (E)open Your eyes, Lord, and see; and listen to the words of Sennacherib, which he has sent (F)to taunt the living God. 17 It is true, Lord; the kings of Assyria have laid waste the nations and their lands, 18 and have [d]hurled their gods into the fire; (G)for they were not gods, but only the work of human hands, wood and stone. So they have destroyed them. 19 But now, Lord our God, please, save us from his hand, (H)so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You alone, (I)Lord, are God.”

Hezekiah’s Prayer

14 Hezeki′ah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it; and Hezeki′ah went up to the house of the Lord, and spread it before the Lord. 15 And Hezeki′ah prayed before the Lord, and said: “O Lord the God of Israel, who art enthroned above the cherubim, thou art the God, thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth. 16 Incline thy ear, O Lord, and hear; open thy eyes, O Lord, and see; and hear the words of Sennach′erib, which he has sent to mock the living God. 17 Of a truth, O Lord, the kings of Assyria have laid waste the nations and their lands, 18 and have cast their gods into the fire; for they were no gods, but the work of men’s hands, wood and stone; therefore they were destroyed. 19 So now, O Lord our God, save us, I beseech thee, from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou, O Lord, art God alone.”
