14 For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died.(A) 15 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves(B) but for him who died for them(C) and was raised again.

16 So from now on we regard no one from a worldly(D) point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ,(E) the new creation(F) has come:[a] The old has gone, the new is here!(G) 18 All this is from God,(H) who reconciled us to himself through Christ(I) and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19 that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them.(J) And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors,(K) as though God were making his appeal through us.(L) We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.(M) 21 God made him who had no sin(N) to be sin[b] for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.(O)

As God’s co-workers(P) we urge you not to receive God’s grace in vain.(Q) For he says,

“In the time of my favor I heard you,
and in the day of salvation I helped you.”[c](R)

I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.

14 For Christ’s love compels[a] us, since we have reached this conclusion: If One died for all,(A) then all died. 15 And He died for all(B) so that those who live should no longer live for themselves,(C) but for the One(D) who died for them and was raised.

The Ministry of Reconciliation

16 From now on, then, we do not know[b] anyone in a purely human way.[c] Even if we have known[d] Christ in a purely human way,[e] yet now we no longer know[f] Him in this way. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation;(E) old things have passed away, and look,(F) new things[g] have come.(G) 18 Everything is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation:(H) 19 That is, in Christ, God was reconciling the world(I) to Himself,(J) not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed the message of reconciliation to us. 20 Therefore, we are ambassadors(K) for Christ, certain that God is appealing through us. We plead on Christ’s behalf,(L) “Be reconciled to God.” 21 He made the One who did not know sin(M) to be sin[h] for us,(N) so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Working together[i] with Him, we also appeal to you, “Don’t receive God’s grace in vain.” For He says:

I heard you in an acceptable time,
and I helped you in the day of salvation.(O)[j]

Look, now is the acceptable time; now is the day of salvation.(P)
