2 Corinthians 3:4-6
New English Translation
4 Now we have such confidence in God through Christ. 5 Not that we are adequate[a] in ourselves to consider anything as if it were coming from ourselves, but our adequacy[b] is from God, 6 who made us adequate[c] to be servants of a new covenant[d] not based on the letter but on the Spirit, for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

Common English Bible
4 This is the confidence that we have through Christ in the presence of God. 5 It isn’t that we ourselves are qualified to claim that anything came from us. No, our qualification is from God. 6 He has qualified us as ministers of a new covenant, not based on what is written but on the Spirit, because what is written kills, but the Spirit gives life.
