2 Corinthians 1:8-11
English Standard Version
8 For we do not want you to be unaware, brothers,[a] of (A)the affliction we experienced in Asia. For we were so utterly burdened beyond our strength that we despaired of life itself. 9 Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death. But that was to make us (B)rely not on ourselves (C)but on God (D)who raises the dead. 10 (E)He delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. (F)On him we have set our hope that he will deliver us again. 11 (G)You also must help us by prayer, so that many will give thanks on our behalf (H)for the blessing granted us through the prayers of many.

Christian Standard Bible
8 We don’t want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, of our affliction that took place in Asia.(A) We were completely overwhelmed—beyond our strength(B)—so that we even despaired(C) of life itself. 9 Indeed, we felt that we had received the sentence of death, so that we would not trust in ourselves but in God(D) who raises(E) the dead. 10 He has delivered(F) us from such a terrible death,(G) and he will deliver us. We have put our hope in him that he will deliver us again 11 while you join in helping us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our[a] behalf for the gift that came to us through the prayers of many.
