6 И Соломон сказал:
– Господь сказал, что будет обитать в густом облаке. 2 Я построил для Тебя величественный дом – место, чтобы Тебе обитать там вечно.

3 Когда все собрание израильтян стояло там, царь повернулся и благословил их. 4 Затем он сказал:
– Благословен Господь, Бог Израиля, Который Своими руками исполнил то, что Своими устами обещал моему отцу Давиду! Ведь Он говорил: 5 «Со дня, когда Я вывел Мой народ из Египта, Я не избирал города ни в одном из родов Израиля, чтобы там построить дом для Моего имени, и не избирал никого в вожди для Моего народа, Израиля. 6 Но ныне Я избрал Иерусалим, чтобы там пребывало Мое имя, и избрал Давида, чтобы он правил Моим народом, Израилем».

Соломон встал на помосте, преклонил колени перед всем собранием израильтян, воздел руки к небу 14 и сказал:
– Господи, Бог Израиля, нет Бога, подобного Тебе, в небесах или на земле! Ты хранишь завет и милость к Твоим слугам, которые от всего сердца следуют Твоим путям. 15 Ты сдержал обещание Твоему слуге Давиду, моему отцу. Ты произнес его Своими устами и сегодня Своей рукой исполнил его.
16 И теперь, Господи, Бог Израиля, исполни обещание, которое Ты дал Твоему слуге Давиду, моему отцу, сказав: «Не исчезнет у тебя преемник, сидящий предо Мной на престоле Израиля, если только твои сыновья будут держаться верного пути и следовать Моему Закону, слушаясь Меня, как слушался ты». 17 И теперь, Господи, Бог Израиля, пусть исполнится слово, которое Ты дал Твоему слуге Давиду!

22 Если человек причинит своему ближнему зло и потребует от него клятвы, и тот придет и даст клятву перед Твоим жертвенником в этом доме, 23 то услышь с небес и воздай. Суди между Твоими слугами и воздай виновному, обрушив на его же голову то, что он сделал, и оправдай невиновного, утвердив его правоту.
24 Если Твой народ Израиль потерпит поражение от врагов из-за того, что согрешил против Тебя, но обратится к Тебе и исповедует Твое имя, молясь и вознося мольбы пред Тобою в этом доме, 25 то услышь с небес и прости грех Твоего народа, Израиля, и верни его обратно в ту землю, которую Ты дал ему и его отцам.
26 Если небеса затворятся и не будет дождя из-за того, что Твой народ согрешил против Тебя, и он обратит молитву к этому месту, и исповедует Твое имя, и отвернется от своего греха, потому что Ты наказал его, 27 то услышь с небес и прости грех Твоих слуг, Твоего народа, Израиля. Научи их доброму пути, чтобы им ходить по нему и пошли дождь на землю, которую Ты дал в наследие Твоему народу.
28 Если землю поразят голод или мор, знойный ветер или плесень, саранча или гусеницы, или если враги осадят один из городов израильтян – какая бы ни пришла беда или болезнь, – 29 то какую бы молитву, какую бы мольбу ни вознес один человек или весь Твой народ, Израиль, когда все они почувствуют свою скорбь и горесть и будут простирать руки к этому дому, 30 услышь с небес, места Твоего обитания. Прости и воздай каждому по его делам, потому что Ты знаешь его сердце (ведь Ты один знаешь человеческие сердца), 31 чтобы они боялись Тебя и ходили Твоими путями все время, что они будут жить на земле, которую Ты дал нашим отцам.
32 Также и чужеземца, который не из Твоего народа, Израиля, но который пришел из далекой земли ради Твоего великого имени, Твоей могучей длани и Твоей простертой руки, когда он придет и обратит свою молитву к этому дому, 33 то услышь с небес, с места Твоего обитания, и сделай все, о чем Тебя попросит чужеземец, чтобы все народы на земле узнали Твое имя и боялись Тебя, как Твой народ, Израиль, и узнали, что этот дом, который я построил, называется Твоим именем.

36 Если они согрешат против Тебя – ведь нет никого, кто бы не грешил, – и Ты разгневаешься на них и отдашь их врагам, которые уведут их пленниками в свою землю, будь она далеко или близко, 37 то если Твой народ переменится сердцем в земле, где они будут пленниками, если покаются и станут молить Тебя в земле своего пленения, говоря: «Мы согрешили, мы сотворили зло и поступали неправедно», 38 если они обратятся к Тебе от всего сердца и от всей души в земле врагов, которые пленили их, и станут молиться, обращаясь к земле, которую Ты дал их отцам, к городу, который Ты избрал, и к дому, который я построил для Твоего имени, 39 то услышь с небес, с места Твоего обитания, их молитвы и мольбы и приди им на помощь. Прости тогда Твой народ, который согрешил против Тебя.
40 И теперь, Бог мой, да будут глаза Твои открыты и слух Твой чуток к молитвам, которые будут возноситься на этом месте.
41 Встань, Господи Боже, и приди на место Своего покоя,
Ты и ковчег Твоей силы.

Einweihung des Tempels; Salomos Worte an das Volk
6 Damals sprach Salomo: Der Herr hat gesagt, er wolle im Dunkeln wohnen. 2 Ich aber habe ein Haus gebaut, dir zur Wohnung, und einen Sitz, da du ewiglich wohnen mögest.
3 Und der König wandte sein Angesicht und segnete die ganze Gemeinde Israel; denn die ganze Gemeinde Israel stand da. 4 Und er sprach:
Gelobt sei der Herr, der Gott Israels, der durch seinen Mund meinem Vater David verheißen und es auch mit seiner Hand erfüllt hat, da er sagte: 5 Seit der Zeit, als ich mein Volk aus Ägyptenland führte, habe ich in allen Stämmen Israels keine Stadt erwählt, um ein Haus zu bauen, daß mein Name daselbst sei, und habe auch keinen Mann erwählt, daß er über mein Volk Israel Fürst sei. 6 Aber Jerusalem habe ich erwählt, daß mein Name daselbst sei; und David habe ich erwählt, daß er über mein Volk Israel König sei.
7 Und mein Vater David hatte im Sinne, dem Namen des Herrn, des Gottes Israels, ein Haus zu bauen. 8 Aber der Herr sprach zu meinem Vater David: Daß du im Sinne gehabt hast, meinem Namen ein Haus zu bauen, daran hast du wohlgetan, daß du das im Sinne gehabt hast. 9 Doch sollst nicht du das Haus bauen, sondern dein Sohn, der aus deinen Lenden hervorgehen wird, der soll meinem Namen das Haus bauen.
10 Und nun hat der Herr sein Wort erfüllt, das er geredet hat; denn ich bin an meines Vaters Statt getreten und sitze auf dem Throne Israels, wie der Herr versprochen hat, und ich habe dem Namen des Herrn, des Gottes Israels, ein Haus gebaut 11 und dorthinein die Lade gestellt, worin der Bund des Herrn ist, den er mit den Kindern Israel gemacht hat.
Salomos Gebet zur Tempelweihe
12 Und er trat vor den Altar des Herrn, angesichts der ganzen Gemeinde Israel, und breitete seine Hände aus. 13 Denn Salomo hatte eine eherne Kanzel gemacht und mitten in den Hof gestellt, fünf Ellen lang und fünf Ellen breit und drei Ellen hoch; darauf trat er und fiel auf seine Knie nieder, angesichts der ganzen Gemeinde Israel, und breitete seine Hände aus gen Himmel 14 und sprach:
O Herr, Gott Israels! Kein Gott ist dir gleich, weder im Himmel noch auf Erden, der du den Bund und die Barmherzigkeit beobachtest deinen Knechten, die von ganzem Herzen vor dir wandeln! 15 Der du deinem Knecht David, meinem Vater, gehalten, was du ihm verheißen hast. Mit deinem Munde hattest du es geredet, und mit deiner Hand hast du es erfüllet, wie es heute der Fall ist.
16 So halte nun, o Herr, Gott Israels, deinem Knechte David, meinem Vater, was du zu ihm gesagt hast, als du sprachest: Es soll dir nicht mangeln an einem Mann vor mir, der auf dem Throne Israels sitze, wenn nur deine Kinder auf ihren Weg achthaben, daß sie in meinem Gesetze wandeln, wie du vor mir gewandelt bist! 17 Und nun, Herr, Gott Israels, laß dein Wort wahr werden, welches du zu deinem Knecht David gesprochen hast! -
18 Sollte aber Gott wahrhaftig bei den Menschen auf Erden wohnen? Siehe, der Himmel und aller Himmel Himmel können dich nicht fassen; wie sollte es denn dieses Haus tun, das ich gebaut habe? 19 Wende dich aber, o Herr, mein Gott, zum Gebet deines Knechtes und zu seinem Flehen, daß du erhörest das Lob und die Bitte, die dein Knecht vor dir tut, 20 also daß deine Augen Tag und Nacht offenstehen über dem Ort, davon du gesagt hast, daß du deinen Namen dahin setzen wollest; daß du erhörest das Gebet, das dein Knecht für diesen Ort tun will. 21 So höre nun das Flehen deines Knechtes und deines Volkes Israel, was sie an dieser Stätte bitten werden! Höre du es an dem Ort deiner Wohnung, im Himmel, und wenn du es hörst, so vergib! -
22 Wenn jemand wider seinen Nächsten sündigt, und man legt ihm einen Eid auf, den er schwören soll, und der Eid kommt in diesem Hause vor deinen Altar, 23 so wollest du hören im Himmel und verschaffen, daß deinen Knechten Recht gesprochen wird, indem du dem Gottlosen vergiltst und seinen Weg auf seinen Kopf fallen lässest und den Gerechten rechtfertigst und ihm gibst nach seiner Gerechtigkeit. -
24 Und wenn dein Volk Israel vor seinen Feinden geschlagen wird, weil sie an dir gesündigt haben, und sie kehren um und bekennen deinen Namen und beten und flehen in diesem Hause vor dir, 25 so wollest du hören im Himmel und die Sünden deines Volkes Israel vergeben und sie wieder in das Land bringen, das du ihnen und ihren Vätern gegeben hast! -
26 Wenn sich der Himmel verschließt, daß es nicht regnet, weil sie an dir gesündigt haben, und sie an diesem Ort beten und deinen Namen bekennen, weil du sie gedemütigt hast, 27 so wollest du hören im Himmel und die Sünden deiner Knechte und deines Volkes Israel vergeben, daß du sie den rechten Weg lehrest, darin sie wandeln sollen, und regnen lässest auf dein Land, das du deinem Volk zu besitzen gegeben hast. -
28 Wenn Hungersnot im Lande herrscht; wenn Pestilenz, Getreidebrand, Vergilben, wenn Heuschrecken und Fresser[a] sein werden; wenn sein Feind im Lande seine Tore belagert, oder sonst eine Plage und Krankheit herrschen wird; 29 was man alsdann bittet und fleht, es geschehe von Menschen, wer sie seien, oder von deinem ganzen Volk Israel, wenn sie innewerden, ein jeder seine Plage und seinen Schmerz, und sie ihre Hände zu diesem Hause ausbreiten, 30 so wollest du hören im Himmel, am Sitze deiner Wohnung, und vergeben und jedermann geben nach all seinem Weg, wie du sein Herz erkennst; denn du allein erkennst das Herz der Menschenkinder, 31 auf daß sie dich fürchten, um in deinen Wegen zu wandeln alle Tage, solange sie in dem Lande leben, das du unsern Vätern gegeben hast. -
32 Und wenn auch ein Fremdling, der nicht von deinem Volk Israel ist, aus fernen Landen kommt, um deines großen Namens und deiner mächtigen Hand und deines ausgestreckten Arms willen, und kommt und in diesem Hause betet, 33 so wollest du im Himmel, am Sitze deiner Wohnung, hören und alles tun, um was dieser Fremdling dich anruft, auf daß alle Völker auf Erden deinen Namen erkennen und dich fürchten, wie dein Volk Israel, und erfahren, daß dieses Haus, das ich gebaut habe, nach deinem Namen genannt sei. -
34 Wenn dein Volk wider seine Feinde in den Krieg zieht, auf dem Wege, den du sie senden wirst, und sie zu dir beten, nach dieser Stadt [gewandt], die du erwählt hast, und dem Hause, das ich deinem Namen gebaut habe, 35 so wollest du ihr Gebet und ihr Flehen im Himmel hören und ihnen zu ihrem Recht verhelfen! -
36 Wenn sie an dir sündigen werden (da kein Mensch ist, der nicht sündigt), und du über sie zürnst und sie vor ihren Feinden dahingibst, so daß dieselben sie in ein fernes oder nahes Land gefangen hinwegführen, 37 und sie in ihrem Herzen umkehren, im Lande ihrer Gefangenschaft, und sprechen:“Wir haben gesündigt, böse gehandeltund sind gottlos gewesen“, 38 und sie also von ganzem Herzen und von ganzer Seele zu dir zurückkehren im Lande ihrer Gefangenschaft, da man sie gefangen hält, und sie beten, gegen ihr Land [gewandt], das du ihren Vätern gegeben hast, und nach der Stadt hin, die du erwählt hast, und nach dem Hause hin, das ich deinem Namen gebaut habe, 39 so wollest du ihr Gebet und ihr Flehen hören im Himmel, am Sitze deiner Wohnung, und ihnen zu ihrem Recht verhelfen und deinem Volk vergeben, das an dir gesündigt hat! -
40 So laß nun doch, mein Gott, deine Augen offen sein und deine Ohren aufmerken auf das Gebet an diesem Ort!
41 Und mache dich nun auf, o Gott, Herr, zu deiner Ruhe, du und die Lade deiner Macht! Laß deine Priester, o Gott, Herr, mit Heil angetan werden und deine Frommen sich freuen über das Gute! 42 O Gott, Herr, weise nicht ab das Angesicht deines Gesalbten! Gedenke der Gnaden, die du deinem Knechte David verheißen hast!

6 Then Solomon said, “The Lord has said that he would dwell in a dark cloud;(A) 2 I have built a magnificent temple for you, a place for you to dwell forever.(B)”
3 While the whole assembly of Israel was standing there, the king turned around and blessed them. 4 Then he said:
“Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, who with his hands has fulfilled what he promised with his mouth to my father David. For he said, 5 ‘Since the day I brought my people out of Egypt, I have not chosen a city in any tribe of Israel to have a temple built so that my Name might be there, nor have I chosen anyone to be ruler over my people Israel. 6 But now I have chosen Jerusalem(C) for my Name(D) to be there, and I have chosen David(E) to rule my people Israel.’
7 “My father David had it in his heart(F) to build a temple for the Name of the Lord, the God of Israel. 8 But the Lord said to my father David, ‘You did well to have it in your heart to build a temple for my Name. 9 Nevertheless, you are not the one to build the temple, but your son, your own flesh and blood—he is the one who will build the temple for my Name.’
10 “The Lord has kept the promise he made. I have succeeded David my father and now I sit on the throne of Israel, just as the Lord promised, and I have built the temple for the Name of the Lord, the God of Israel. 11 There I have placed the ark, in which is the covenant(G) of the Lord that he made with the people of Israel.”
Solomon’s Prayer of Dedication(H)(I)
12 Then Solomon stood before the altar of the Lord in front of the whole assembly of Israel and spread out his hands. 13 Now he had made a bronze platform,(J) five cubits long, five cubits wide and three cubits high,[a] and had placed it in the center of the outer court. He stood on the platform and then knelt down(K) before the whole assembly of Israel and spread out his hands toward heaven. 14 He said:
“Lord, the God of Israel, there is no God like you(L) in heaven or on earth—you who keep your covenant of love(M) with your servants who continue wholeheartedly in your way. 15 You have kept your promise to your servant David my father; with your mouth you have promised(N) and with your hand you have fulfilled it—as it is today.
16 “Now, Lord, the God of Israel, keep for your servant David my father the promises you made to him when you said, ‘You shall never fail(O) to have a successor to sit before me on the throne of Israel, if only your descendants are careful in all they do to walk before me according to my law,(P) as you have done.’ 17 And now, Lord, the God of Israel, let your word that you promised your servant David come true.
18 “But will God really dwell(Q) on earth with humans? The heavens,(R) even the highest heavens, cannot contain you. How much less this temple I have built! 19 Yet, Lord my God, give attention to your servant’s prayer and his plea for mercy. Hear the cry and the prayer that your servant is praying in your presence. 20 May your eyes(S) be open toward this temple day and night, this place of which you said you would put your Name(T) there. May you hear(U) the prayer your servant prays toward this place. 21 Hear the supplications of your servant and of your people Israel when they pray toward this place. Hear from heaven, your dwelling place; and when you hear, forgive.(V)
22 “When anyone wrongs their neighbor and is required to take an oath(W) and they come and swear the oath before your altar in this temple, 23 then hear from heaven and act. Judge between your servants, condemning(X) the guilty and bringing down on their heads what they have done, and vindicating the innocent by treating them in accordance with their innocence.
24 “When your people Israel have been defeated(Y) by an enemy because they have sinned against you and when they turn back and give praise to your name, praying and making supplication before you in this temple, 25 then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of your people Israel and bring them back to the land you gave to them and their ancestors.
26 “When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain(Z) because your people have sinned against you, and when they pray toward this place and give praise to your name and turn from their sin because you have afflicted them, 27 then hear from heaven and forgive(AA) the sin of your servants, your people Israel. Teach them the right way to live, and send rain on the land you gave your people for an inheritance.
28 “When famine(AB) or plague comes to the land, or blight or mildew, locusts or grasshoppers, or when enemies besiege them in any of their cities, whatever disaster or disease may come, 29 and when a prayer or plea is made by anyone among your people Israel—being aware of their afflictions and pains, and spreading out their hands toward this temple— 30 then hear from heaven, your dwelling place. Forgive,(AC) and deal with everyone according to all they do, since you know their hearts (for you alone know the human heart),(AD) 31 so that they will fear you(AE) and walk in obedience to you all the time they live in the land you gave our ancestors.
32 “As for the foreigner who does not belong to your people Israel but has come(AF) from a distant land because of your great name and your mighty hand(AG) and your outstretched arm—when they come and pray toward this temple, 33 then hear from heaven, your dwelling place. Do whatever the foreigner(AH) asks of you, so that all the peoples of the earth may know your name and fear you, as do your own people Israel, and may know that this house I have built bears your Name.
34 “When your people go to war against their enemies,(AI) wherever you send them, and when they pray(AJ) to you toward this city you have chosen and the temple I have built for your Name, 35 then hear from heaven their prayer and their plea, and uphold their cause.
36 “When they sin against you—for there is no one who does not sin(AK)—and you become angry with them and give them over to the enemy, who takes them captive(AL) to a land far away or near; 37 and if they have a change of heart(AM) in the land where they are held captive, and repent and plead with you in the land of their captivity and say, ‘We have sinned, we have done wrong and acted wickedly’; 38 and if they turn back to you with all their heart and soul in the land of their captivity where they were taken, and pray toward the land you gave their ancestors, toward the city you have chosen and toward the temple I have built for your Name; 39 then from heaven, your dwelling place, hear their prayer and their pleas, and uphold their cause. And forgive(AN) your people, who have sinned against you.
40 “Now, my God, may your eyes be open and your ears attentive(AO) to the prayers offered in this place.
41 “Now arise,(AP) Lord God, and come to your resting place,(AQ)
you and the ark of your might.
May your priests,(AR) Lord God, be clothed with salvation,
may your faithful people rejoice in your goodness.(AS)
42 Lord God, do not reject your anointed one.(AT)
Remember the great love(AU) promised to David your servant.”
