2 Corinthians 5:16-21

New International Version

¹⁶So from now on we regard no one from a worldly^(A) point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. ¹⁷Therefore, if anyone is in Christ,^(B) the new creation^(C) has come:^[a] The old has gone, the new is here!^(D) ¹⁸All this is from God,^(E) who reconciled us to himself through Christ^(F) and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: ¹⁹that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them.^(G) And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. ²⁰We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors,^(H) as though God were making his appeal through us.^(I) We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.^(J) ²¹God made him who had no sin^(K) to be sin^[b] for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.^(L)

To the Church in Laodicea

¹⁴“To the angel of the church in Laodicea^(A) write:

These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness,^(B) the ruler of God’s creation.^(C) ¹⁵I know your deeds,^(D) that you are neither cold nor hot.^(E) I wish you were either one or the other! ¹⁶So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. ¹⁷You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’^(F) But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.^(G) ¹⁸I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire,^(H) so you can become rich; and white clothes^(I) to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness;^(J) and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see.

¹⁹Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline.^(K) So be earnest and repent.^(L) ²⁰Here I am! I stand at the door^(M) and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door,^(N) I will come in^(O) and eat with that person, and they with me.
