2 Timothy 4

4 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I solemnly urge you: 2 proclaim the message; be persistent whether the time is favourable or unfavourable; convince, rebuke, and encourage, with the utmost patience in teaching. 3 For the time is coming when people will not put up with sound doctrine, but having itching ears, they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own desires, 4 and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander away to myths. 5 As for you, always be sober, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, carry out your ministry fully.

6 As for me, I am already being poured out as a libation, and the time of my departure has come. 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 From now on there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have longed for his appearing.

Personal Instructions

9 Do your best to come to me soon, 10 for Demas, in love with this present world, has deserted me and gone to Thessalonica; Crescens has gone to Galatia,[a] Titus to Dalmatia. 11 Only Luke is with me. Get Mark and bring him with you, for he is useful in my ministry. 12 I have sent Tychicus to Ephesus. 13 When you come, bring the cloak that I left with Carpus at Troas, also the books, and above all the parchments. 14 Alexander the coppersmith did me great harm; the Lord will pay him back for his deeds. 15 You also must beware of him, for he strongly opposed our message.

16 At my first defence no one came to my support, but all deserted me. May it not be counted against them! 17 But the Lord stood by me and gave me strength, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it. So I was rescued from the lion’s mouth. 18 The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and save me for his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Final Greetings and Benediction

19 Greet Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus. 20 Erastus remained in Corinth; Trophimus I left ill in Miletus. 21 Do your best to come before winter. Eubulus sends greetings to you, as do Pudens and Linus and Claudia and all the brothers and sisters.[b]

22 The Lord be with your spirit. Grace be with you.[c]

4 Trước mặt Thượng Đế và trước mặt Chúa Cứu Thế Giê-xu, Đấng sẽ xét xử kẻ sống và kẻ chết cùng sự trở lại và nước của Ngài, ta dặn con: 2 Hãy rao giảng Tin Mừng. Lúc nào cũng phải sẵn sàng nói cho mọi người những điều phải làm. Khuyên họ đừng phạm tội và sửa dạy nếu họ phạm tội. Dùng lòng kiên nhẫn để khuyến khích và dạy dỗ cẩn thận 3 vì thời kỳ đến, người ta sẽ không chịu nghe lời dạy dỗ chân thật nữa mà đi tìm những giáo sư nói những lời êm tai để vừa lòng mình. 4 Họ sẽ không nghe chân lý mà chạy theo các chuyện giả tạo. 5 Nhưng con phải luôn luôn tự chế, chấp nhận gian lao, thực hiện công tác rao giảng Tin Mừng và hoàn tất nhiệm vụ của đầy tớ Thượng Đế.

6 Đời sống ta đang được dâng lên làm của lễ cho Thượng Đế vì sắp đến lúc ta lìa đời rồi. 7 Ta đã chiến đấu anh dũng, hoàn tất cuộc đua và giữ được đức tin. 8 Hiện nay mão triều đang dành cho ta. Chúa là quan án công minh sẽ đội mão đó cho ta trong ngày ấy [a], không những cho ta thôi mà còn cho tất cả những ai trông đợi Ngài trở lại.

Lời dặn riêng

9 Con hãy cố gắng mau đến với ta, 10 vì Đê-ma ham mến thế gian nên đã bỏ ta đi qua Tê-sa-lô-ni-ca. Cơ-rết-xen đi Ga-la-ti, còn Tít thì đi Đan-ma-tia. 11 Lu-ca là người duy nhất đang ở với ta. Khi con đến hãy đem Mác đi với con vì Mác có thể giúp đỡ công việc ta ở đây. 12 Ta gởi Ti-chi-cơ đi Ê-phê-sô.

13 Hồi ở Trô-ách ta bỏ quên áo ngoài nơi nhà Cát-bu cho nên khi con đến nhớ mang cho ta cùng với các sách vở của ta, nhất là những tài liệu viết trên cuộn giấy da. [b]

14 A-léc-xăng-đơ, thợ kim khí đã làm hại ta nhiều chuyện lắm. Chúa sẽ trừng phạt điều hắn làm cho ta. 15 Con phải cẩn thận về hắn nếu không hắn cũng làm hại con vì hắn khăng khăng chống đối lời dạy dỗ của chúng ta.

16 Lần đầu tiên khi ta tự bào chữa, không có một người nào giúp đỡ ta, ai cũng bỏ ta. Cầu Chúa tha tội cho họ. 17 Nhưng Chúa ở cùng ta và thêm sức cho ta để ta được tự do rao Tin Mừng cho những người không phải Do-thái. Ta cũng được cứu thoát khỏi miệng sư tử. 18 Chúa sẽ cứu ta khi có ai muốn làm hại ta. Ngài sẽ đưa ta an toàn vào nước thiên đàng của Ngài. Nguyền vinh hiển thuộc về Ngài đời đời. A-men.

4 Te rog solemn înaintea lui Dumnezeu şi a lui Cristos Isus, Care urmează să judece viii şi morţii, şi având în vedere arătarea Lui şi Împărăţia[a] Lui: 2 predică Cuvântul; fii pregătit la timp potrivit sau nepotrivit; mustră, corectează, încurajează cu toată răbdarea şi învăţătura! 3 Căci va veni vremea când oamenii nu vor mai suporta învăţătura sănătoasă, ci îşi vor îngrămădi învăţători după poftele lor, ca să audă doar lucruri ce le gâdilă urechile. 4 Îşi vor întoarce urechea de la adevăr şi se vor duce după mituri. 5 Însă tu fii treaz în toate lucrurile, îndură suferinţele, fă lucrarea unui evanghelist, împlineşte-ţi bine slujba!

6 Căci eu sunt gata să fiu turnat ca o jertfă de băutură[b], şi timpul plecării mele este aproape. 7 M-am luptat lupta cea bună, mi-am sfârşit alergarea, am păzit credinţa. 8 De acum mă aşteaptă cununa dreptăţii, pe care mi-o va da Domnul, Judecătorul cel Drept, în ziua aceea, şi nu numai mie, ci tuturor celor care vor fi iubit arătarea Lui.

9 Străduieşte-te să vii la mine cât de repede! 10 Demas, din dragoste pentru lumea de acum, m-a părăsit şi s-a dus la Tesalonic; Crescens s-a dus în Galatia, Titus în Dalmaţia[c]. 11 Numai Luca este cu mine. Ia-l pe Marcu şi adu-l cu tine, pentru că îmi este de folos în slujire! 12 Pe Tihicus l-am trimis la Efes. 13 Când vii, adu şi mantaua pe care am lăsat-o în Troa, la Carp, precum şi sulurile, mai ales pe cele din piele. 14 Alexandru, căldărarul, mi-a făcut mult rău. Domnul îl va răsplăti după faptele lui. 15 Păzeşte-te de el, pentru că el s-a împotrivit foarte tare cuvintelor noastre.

16 La primul meu răspuns de apărare, nimeni n-a stat alături de mine, ci toţi m-au părăsit. Să nu le fie ţinut în seamă lucrul acesta! 17 Însă Domnul a stat lângă mine şi m-a întărit, pentru ca, prin mine, mesajul să fie pe deplin vestit şi toate neamurile să-l audă. Şi am fost izbăvit din gura leului[d]. 18 Domnul mă va scăpa de orice lucru rău şi mă va mântui pentru Împărăţia Lui cerească. A Lui să fie slava, în vecii vecilor! Amin.

19 Salută-i pe Prisca[e] şi Aquila şi pe cei din casa lui Onisiforus! 20 Erastus a rămas în Corint, iar pe Trofimus l-am lăsat bolnav în Milet. 21 Străduieşte-te să vii înainte de iarnă! 4 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead,(A) and in view of his appearing(B) and his kingdom, I give you this charge:(C) 2 Preach(D) the word;(E) be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke(F) and encourage(G)—with great patience and careful instruction. 3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine.(H) Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.(I) 4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.(J) 5 But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship,(K) do the work of an evangelist,(L) discharge all the duties of your ministry.

6 For I am already being poured out like a drink offering,(M) and the time for my departure is near.(N) 7 I have fought the good fight,(O) I have finished the race,(P) I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me(Q) the crown of righteousness,(R) which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day(S)—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.(T)
