2 Timothy 4

4 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
9 Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me:
10 For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.
11 Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry.
12 And Tychicus have I sent to Ephesus.
13 The cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest, bring with thee, and the books, but especially the parchments.
14 Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works:
15 Of whom be thou ware also; for he hath greatly withstood our words.
16 At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.
17 Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
19 Salute Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus.
20 Erastus abode at Corinth: but Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick.
21 Do thy diligence to come before winter. Eubulus greeteth thee, and Pudens, and Linus, and Claudia, and all the brethren.

4 (A)I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, (B)who is to judge the living and the dead, and by (C)his appearing and his kingdom: 2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; (D)reprove, rebuke, and (E)exhort, with complete patience and teaching. 3 (F)For the time is coming when people will not endure (G)sound[a] teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, 4 and (H)will turn away from listening to the truth and (I)wander off into myths. 5 But as for you, (J)always be sober-minded, (K)endure suffering, do the work of (L)an evangelist, (M)fulfill your ministry.
6 For (N)I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my (O)departure has come. 7 (P)I have fought the good fight, (Q)I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 Henceforth there is (R)laid up for me (S)the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, (T)the righteous judge, will award to me on (U)that day, and not only to me but also to all (V)who have loved his appearing.

(AH)May it not be charged against them! 17 But (AI)the Lord stood by me and (AJ)strengthened me, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and (AK)all the Gentiles might hear it. 4 [C’est pourquoi] je t’en supplie, devant Dieu et devant [le Seigneur] Jésus-Christ qui doit juger les vivants et les morts au moment de sa venue et de son règne: 2 prêche la parole, insiste en toute occasion, qu’elle soit favorable ou non, réfute, reprends et encourage. Fais tout cela avec une pleine patience et un entier souci d’instruire. 3 En effet, un temps viendra où les hommes ne supporteront pas la saine doctrine. Au contraire, ayant la démangeaison d’entendre des choses agréables, ils se donneront une foule d'enseignants conformes à leurs propres désirs. 4 Ils détourneront l’oreille de la vérité et se tourneront vers les fables. 5 Mais toi, sois sobre en tout, supporte les souffrances, accomplis la tâche d'un évangéliste, remplis bien ton ministère.
6 Pour ma part, en effet, je suis déjà comme sacrifié et le moment de mon départ approche. 7 J'ai combattu le bon combat, j'ai terminé la course, j'ai gardé la foi. 8 Désormais, la couronne de justice m'est réservée. Le Seigneur, le juste juge, me la remettra ce jour-là[a], et non seulement à moi, mais aussi à tous ceux qui auront attendu avec amour sa venue.

Qu’il ne leur en soit pas tenu compte! 17 C'est le Seigneur qui m'a soutenu et fortifié afin que, par mon intermédiaire, le message soit pleinement proclamé et entendu de toutes les nations; c’est ainsi que j'ai été délivré de la gueule du lion. 18 Le Seigneur me délivrera de toute œuvre mauvaise et me sauvera pour me faire entrer dans son royaume céleste. A lui soit la gloire aux siècles des siècles! Amen!
