⁸ Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead,^(A) descended from David.^(B) This is my gospel,^(C)

¹⁶ This will take place on the day when God judges people’s secrets^(A) through Jesus Christ,^(B) as my gospel^(C) declares.

²⁴ But God raised him from the dead,^(A) freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him.^(B)

¹⁴ He called you^(A) to this through our gospel,^(B) that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹¹ Whether, then, it is I or they,^(A) this is what we preach, and this is what you believed.

The Resurrection of the Dead

¹² But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead,^(B) how can some of you say that there is no resurrection^(C) of the dead?^{(D) 13} If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. ¹⁴ And if Christ has not been raised,^(E) our preaching is useless and so is your faith. ¹⁵ More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead.^(F) But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised. ¹⁶ For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. ¹⁷ And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.^{(G) 18} Then those also who have fallen asleep^(H) in Christ are lost. ¹⁹ If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.^(I)

²⁰ But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead,^(J) the firstfruits^(K) of those who have fallen asleep.^(L)

1 This is the genealogy^[a] of Jesus the Messiah^[b] the son of David,^(D) the son of Abraham:^(E)

² fixing our eyes on Jesus,^(A) the pioneer^(B) and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross,^(C) scorning its shame,^(D) and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.^{(E) 3} Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary^(F) and lose heart.

⁷ And for this purpose I was appointed a herald and an apostle—I am telling the truth, I am not lying^(A)—and a true and faithful teacher^(B) of the Gentiles.^(C)

⁴ that he was buried,^(A) that he was raised^(B) on the third day^(C) according to the Scriptures,^(D)
