^22 (A)Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. ²³ But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. ²⁴ And ^(B)a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, ^(C)able to teach, ^(D)patient, ^25 (E)in humility correcting those who are in opposition, ^(F)if God perhaps will grant them repentance, ^(G)so that they may know the truth, ²⁶ and that they may come to their senses and ^(H)escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.

²² that you ^(A)put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, ²³ and ^(B)be renewed in the spirit of your mind, ²⁴ and that you ^(C)put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.

Do Not Grieve the Spirit

²⁵ Therefore, putting away lying, ^(D)“Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor,” for ^(E)we are members of one another. ^26 (F)“Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, ^27 (G)nor give ^[a]place to the devil.
