4 Te encargo delante de Dios y del Señor Jesucristo, quien juzgará a los vivos y a los muertos en su manifestación y en su reino, 2 que prediques la palabra; que instes a tiempo y fuera de tiempo; redarguye, reprende, exhorta con toda paciencia y doctrina. 3 Porque vendrá un tiempo en que no soportarán la sana doctrina, sino que aun teniendo comezón de oír se amontonarán maestros conforme a sus propios malos deseos, 4 y apartarán de la verdad sus oídos y se volverán a las fábulas. 5 Pero tú sé sobrio en todo, soporta las aflicciones, haz obra de evangelista, cumple tu ministerio.
6 Yo estoy ya a punto de ser sacrificado, y el tiempo de mi partida está cercano. 7 He peleado la buena batalla, he acabado la carrera, he guardado la fe. 8 Por lo demás, me está reservada la corona de justicia, que en aquel día me dará el Señor, el juez justo; y no sólo a mí, sino también a todos los que aman su venida.

9 Procura venir pronto a verme, 10 porque Demas(A) me ha desamparado. Prefirió este mundo, y se fue a Tesalónica. Crescente se fue a Galacia, y Tito(B) a Dalmacia. 11 Sólo Lucas(C) está conmigo. Toma a Marcos(D) y tráelo contigo, porque me es útil para el ministerio. 12 A Tíquico(E) lo envié a Éfeso. 13 Cuando vengas, tráeme el capote que dejé en Troas,(F) en casa de Carpo, y también los libros, especialmente los pergaminos. 14 Alejandro,(G) el calderero, me ha causado mucho daño; que el Señor le pague conforme a sus hechos. 15 Cuídate también tú de él, pues se ha opuesto mucho a nuestras palabras. 16 En mi primera defensa nadie estuvo a mi lado; todos me desampararon. Espero que no les sea tomado en cuenta. 17 Pero el Señor sí estuvo a mi lado, y me dio fuerzas, para que por mí se cumpliera la predicación y todos las naciones la oyeran. Así fui librado de la boca del león. 18 Y el Señor me librará de toda obra mala, y me preservará para su reino celestial. A él sea la gloria por los siglos de los siglos. Amén.

4 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead,(A) and in view of his appearing(B) and his kingdom, I give you this charge:(C) 2 Preach(D) the word;(E) be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke(F) and encourage(G)—with great patience and careful instruction. 3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine.(H) Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.(I) 4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.(J) 5 But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship,(K) do the work of an evangelist,(L) discharge all the duties of your ministry.
6 For I am already being poured out like a drink offering,(M) and the time for my departure is near.(N) 7 I have fought the good fight,(O) I have finished the race,(P) I have kept the faith. 8 Now there is in store for me(Q) the crown of righteousness,(R) which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day(S)—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.(T)

9 Do your best to come to me quickly,(U) 10 for Demas,(V) because he loved this world,(W) has deserted me and has gone to Thessalonica.(X) Crescens has gone to Galatia,(Y) and Titus(Z) to Dalmatia. 11 Only Luke(AA) is with me.(AB) Get Mark(AC) and bring him with you, because he is helpful to me in my ministry. 12 I sent Tychicus(AD) to Ephesus.(AE) 13 When you come, bring the cloak that I left with Carpus at Troas,(AF) and my scrolls, especially the parchments.
14 Alexander(AG) the metalworker did me a great deal of harm. The Lord will repay him for what he has done.(AH) 15 You too should be on your guard against him, because he strongly opposed our message.
16 At my first defense, no one came to my support, but everyone deserted me. May it not be held against them.(AI) 17 But the Lord stood at my side(AJ) and gave me strength,(AK) so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it.(AL) And I was delivered from the lion’s mouth.(AM) 18 The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack(AN) and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom.(AO) To him be glory for ever and ever.
