1 Pavel, apostol(A) al lui Hristos Isus, prin voia lui Dumnezeu, după făgăduinţa vieţii(B) care este în Hristos Isus, 2 către(C) Timotei, copilul meu preaiubit: Har, îndurare şi pace de la Dumnezeu Tatăl şi de la Hristos Isus, Domnul nostru! 3 Mulţumesc(D) lui Dumnezeu, căruia(E) Îi slujesc cu un cuget curat, din moşi-strămoşi, că neîntrerupt(F) te pomenesc în rugăciunile mele, zi şi noapte. 4 Căci mi-aduc aminte(G) de lacrimile tale şi doresc să te văd, ca să mă umplu de bucurie. 5 Îmi aduc aminte de credinţa(H) ta neprefăcută, care s-a sălăşluit întâi în bunica ta Lois şi în mama(I) ta Eunice şi sunt încredinţat că şi în tine. 6 De aceea îţi aduc aminte să înflăcărezi darul(J) lui Dumnezeu care este în tine prin punerea mâinilor mele. 7 Căci Dumnezeu(K) nu ne-a dat un duh de frică, ci(L) de putere, de dragoste şi de chibzuinţă. 8 Să nu-ţi fie ruşine dar(M) de mărturisirea(N) Domnului nostru, nici de mine, întemniţatul(O) Lui. Ci(P) suferă împreună cu Evanghelia, prin puterea lui Dumnezeu. 9 El(Q) ne-a mântuit şi ne-a(R) dat o chemare sfântă, nu(S) pentru faptele noastre, ci(T) după hotărârea Lui şi după harul care ne-a fost dat în Hristos Isus, înainte(U) de veşnicii, 10 dar care a fost(V) descoperit acum prin arătarea Mântuitorului nostru Hristos Isus, care(W) a nimicit moartea şi a adus la lumină viaţa şi neputrezirea, prin Evanghelie. 11 Propovăduitorul şi apostolul ei(X) am fost pus eu şi învăţător al neamurilor. 12 Şi din pricina aceasta(Y) sufăr aceste lucruri, dar nu mi-e ruşine, căci(Z) ştiu în cine am crezut. Şi sunt încredinţat că El are putere să păzească(AA) ce I-am încredinţat până în(AB) ziua aceea. 13 Dreptarul învăţăturilor(AC) sănătoase pe care le-ai auzit de la mine ţine-l(AD) cu(AE) credinţa(AF) şi dragostea care este în Hristos Isus. 14 Lucrul acela bun(AG) care ţi s-a încredinţat păzeşte-l prin Duhul Sfânt, care(AH) locuieşte în noi. 15 Ştii că cei ce sunt în Asia toţi(AI) m-au părăsit(AJ); între alţii şi Figel şi Ermogen. 16 Domnul să-şi verse(AK) îndurarea peste casa(AL) lui Onisifor, căci(AM) de multe ori m-a mângâiat şi nu(AN) i-a fost ruşine de lanţul(AO) meu. 17 Nu numai atât, dar, când a fost în Roma, m-a căutat cu multă grijă şi m-a găsit. 18 Dea Domnul să(AP) capete îndurare de la Domnul „în(AQ) ziua aceea”. Tu ştii foarte bine cât ajutor(AR) mi-a dat el în Efes.

1 Pablo, apóstol de Cristo Jesús por la voluntad de Dios, según la promesa de la vida que es en Cristo Jesús; 2 a Timoteo, amado hijo: Gracia, misericordia y paz de parte de Dios el Padre y de Cristo Jesús nuestro Señor.
No te avergüences de testificar
3 Doy gracias a Dios, a quien rindo culto con limpia conciencia como lo hicieron mis antepasados, de que sin cesar me acuerdo de ti en mis oraciones de noche y de día. 4 Me he acordado de tus lágrimas y deseo verte para ser lleno de gozo. 5 Traigo a la memoria la fe no fingida que hay en ti, la cual habitó primero en tu abuela Loida y en tu madre Eunice, y estoy convencido de que también en ti.
6 Por esta razón, te vuelvo a recordar que avives el don de Dios que está en ti por la imposición de mis manos. 7 Porque no nos ha dado Dios un espíritu de cobardía sino de poder, de amor y de dominio propio. 8 Por tanto, no te avergüences de dar testimonio de nuestro Señor ni de mí, prisionero suyo. Más bien, sé partícipe conmigo de los sufrimientos por el evangelio, según el poder de Dios. 9 Fue él quien nos salvó y nos llamó con santo llamamiento, no conforme a nuestras obras sino conforme a su propio propósito y gracia, la cual nos fue dada en Cristo Jesús antes del comienzo del tiempo 10 y ahora ha sido manifestada por la aparición de nuestro Salvador Cristo Jesús. Él anuló la muerte y sacó a la luz la vida y la inmortalidad por medio del evangelio, 11 del cual he sido puesto como predicador, apóstol y maestro[a]. 12 Por esta razón padezco estas cosas, pero no me avergüenzo porque yo sé a quién he creído, y estoy convencido de que él es poderoso para guardar mi depósito para aquel día.
13 Ten presente el modelo de las sanas palabras que has oído de mí, en la fe y el amor en Cristo Jesús. 14 Guarda el buen depósito por medio del Espíritu Santo que habita en nosotros.
15 Ya sabes que se apartaron de mí todos los de Asia, entre ellos Figelo y Hermógenes. 16 El Señor conceda misericordia a la casa de Onesíforo porque muchas veces me reanimó y no se avergonzó de mis cadenas. 17 Más bien, cuando estuvo en Roma, me buscó solícitamente y me halló. 18 El Señor le conceda que halle misericordia de parte del Señor en aquel día. Cuánto nos ayudó en Éfeso tú lo sabes muy bien.

Appeal for Loyalty to Paul and the Gospel
6 For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.(N) 7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid,(O) but gives us power,(P) love and self-discipline. 8 So do not be ashamed(Q) of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner.(R) Rather, join with me in suffering for the gospel,(S) by the power of God. 9 He has saved(T) us and called(U) us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done(V) but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, 10 but it has now been revealed(W) through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus,(X) who has destroyed death(Y) and has brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. 11 And of this gospel(Z) I was appointed(AA) a herald and an apostle and a teacher.(AB) 12 That is why I am suffering as I am.
