⁴ and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and ^(A)be turned aside to fables.

¹¹ “But they refused to heed, ^(A)shrugged^[a] their shoulders, and ^(B)stopped^[b] their ears so that they could not hear.

^4 (A)nor give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which cause disputes rather than godly edification which is in faith.

The Trustworthy Prophetic Word^(A)

¹⁶ For we did not follow ^(B)cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the ^(C)power and ^(D)coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were ^(E)eyewitnesses of His majesty.

⁷ But ^(A)reject profane and old wives’ fables, and ^(B)exercise yourself toward godliness.

⁵⁷ Then they cried out with a loud voice, stopped their ears, and ran at him with one accord;

¹⁴ not giving heed to Jewish fables and ^(A)commandments of men who turn from the truth.

¹⁵ This you know, that all those in Asia have turned away from me, among whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes.
