¹⁰ For ^(A)Demas, ^(B)in love with ^(C)this present world, ^(D)has deserted me and gone to Thessalonica. Crescens has gone to Galatia,^{[a] (E)}Titus to Dalmatia.

Do Not Love the World

^15 (A)Do not love the world or the things in the world. ^(B)If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. ¹⁶ For all that is in the world—^(C)the desires of the flesh and ^(D)the desires of the eyes and pride of life^[a]—is not from the Father but is from the world.

¹⁵ You are aware that ^(A)all who are in Asia turned away from me, among whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes.

^14 (A)Luke the beloved physician greets you, as does ^(B)Demas. ¹⁵ Give my greetings to the brothers^[a] at Laodicea, and to Nympha and ^(C)the church in her house.

¹³ my spirit ^(A)was not at rest because I did not find my brother Titus there. So I took leave of them and went on to Macedonia.

The Macedonian Call

⁶ And ^(A)they went through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia.

⁴ For ^(A)everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—^(B)our faith. ⁵ Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes ^(C)that Jesus is the Son of God?

²⁴ and so do ^(A)Mark, ^(B)Aristarchus, ^(C)Demas, and ^(D)Luke, my fellow workers.

¹⁶ At my first defense no one came to stand by me, but all deserted me. ^(A)May it not be charged against them!
