⁹ but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, ^(A)as theirs also was.

^8 (A)Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: ^(B)men of corrupt minds, ^(C)disapproved concerning the faith;

¹⁵ Then the prophet Jeremiah said to Hananiah the prophet, “Hear now, Hananiah, the Lord has not sent you, but ^(A)you make this people trust in a ^(B)lie. ¹⁶ Therefore thus says the Lord: ‘Behold, I will cast you from the face of the earth. This year you shall ^(C)die, because you have taught ^(D)rebellion against the Lord.’ ”

¹⁷ So Hananiah the prophet died the same year in the seventh month.

¹² For every man threw down his rod, and they became serpents. But Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.

¹¹ And the ^(A)magicians could not stand before Moses because of the ^(B)boils, for the boils were on the magicians and on all the Egyptians.

¹⁵ And the evil spirit answered and said, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?”

¹⁶ Then the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, ^[a]overpowered them, and prevailed against ^[b]them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. ¹⁷ This became known both to all Jews and Greeks dwelling in Ephesus; and ^(A)fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.

¹¹ And now, indeed, ^(A)the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you shall be blind, not seeing the sun for a time.”

And immediately a dark mist fell on him, and he went around seeking someone to lead him by the hand.

¹⁹ Where now are your prophets who prophesied to you, saying, ‘The king of Babylon will not come against you or against this land’?
