¹⁵ and how from childhood you have known sacred writings that are able to instruct you for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.

⁴⁵ Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures,

²⁰ First of all you must understand this, that no prophecy of scripture is a matter of one’s^[a] own interpretation, ²¹ because no prophecy ever came by human will, but men and women moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.^[b](A)

³ For I handed on to you as of first importance what I in turn had received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures^{(A) 4} and that he was buried and that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures^(B)

²⁷ Then beginning with Moses and all the prophets, he interpreted to them the things about himself in all the scriptures.^(A)

²⁹ Jesus answered them, “You are wrong because you know neither the scriptures nor the power of God.^(A)

⁵ I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that lived first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, lives in you.^(A)

³⁹ “You search the scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life, and it is they that testify on my behalf.^{(A) 40} Yet you refuse to come to me to have life.
