4 Kérlek azért az Isten és Krisztus Jézus színe elõtt, a ki ítélni fog élõket és holtakat az õ eljövetelekor és az õ országában.
2 Hirdesd az ígét, állj elõ vele alkalmatos, alkalmatlan idõben, ints, feddj, buzdíts teljes béketûréssel és tanítással.
3 Mert lesz idõ, mikor az egészséges tudományt el nem szenvedik, hanem a saját kívánságaik szerint gyûjtenek magoknak tanítókat, mert viszket a fülök;
4 És az igazságtól elfordítják az õ fülöket, de a mesékhez oda fordulnak.
5 De te józan légy mindenekben, szenvedj, az evangyélista munkáját cselekedd, szolgálatodat teljesen betöltsd.
6 Mert én immár megáldoztatom, és az én elköltözésem ideje beállott.
7 Ama nemes harczot megharczoltam, futásomat elvégeztem, a hitet megtartottam:
8 Végezetre eltétetett nékem az igazság koronája, melyet megád nékem az Úr ama napon, az igaz Bíró; nemcsak nékem pedig, hanem mindazoknak is, a kik vágyva várják az õ megjelenését.
9 Igyekezzél hozzám jõni hamar.
10 Mert Démás engem elhagyott, e jelen való világhoz ragaszkodván, és elment Thessalónikába: Kresczens Galátziába, Titus Dalmátziába.
11 Egyedül Lukács van velem. Márkust magadhoz vévén, hozd magaddal: mert nekem alkalmas a szolgálatra.
12 Tikhikust pedig Efézusba küldöttem.
13 A felsõruhámat, melyet Troásban Kárpusnál hagytam, jöttödben hozd el, a könyveket is, kiváltképen a hártyákat.
14 Az érczmíves Sándor sok bajt szerzett nékem: fizessen meg az Úr néki cselekedetei szerint.
15 Tõle te is õrizkedjél, mert szerfelett ellenállott a mi beszédinknek.
16 Elsõ védekezésem alkalmával senki sem volt mellettem, sõt mindnyájan elhagytak; ne számíttassék be nékik.
17 De az Úr mellettem állott, és megerõsített engem; hogy teljesen bevégezzem az igehirdetést, és hallják meg azt az összes pogányok: és megszabadultam az oroszlán szájából.
18 És megszabadít engem az Úr minden gonosz cselekedettõl, és megtart az õ mennyei országára; a kinek dicsõség örökkön örökké! Ámen.
19 Köszöntsed Priszkát és Akvilát, és az Onesifórus háznépét.
20 Erástus Korinthusban maradt; Trófimust pedig Milétumban hagytam betegen.
21 Igyekezzél tél elõtt eljõni. Köszönt téged Eubulus és Pudens és Linus és Klaudia, és mind az atyafiak.

Preach the Word
4 I (A)charge you [a]therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, (B)who will judge the living and the dead [b]at His appearing and His kingdom: 2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. (C)Convince, (D)rebuke, (E)exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. 3 (F)For the time will come when they will not endure (G)sound doctrine, (H)but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and (I)be turned aside to fables. 5 But you be watchful in all things, (J)endure afflictions, do the work of (K)an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

The Lord Is Faithful
17 (X)But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, (Y)so that the message might be preached fully through me, and that all the Gentiles might hear. Also I was delivered (Z)out of the mouth of the lion. 18 (AA)And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me for His heavenly kingdom. (AB)To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen!
Come Before Winter
19 Greet (AC)Prisca and Aquila, and the household of (AD)Onesiphorus. 20 (AE)Erastus stayed in Corinth, but (AF)Trophimus I have left in Miletus sick.
21 Do your utmost to come before winter.

2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.
6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
