We ought always (A)to give thanks to God for you, (B)brothers and sisters, as is only fitting, because your faith is increasing abundantly, and the (C)love of each and every one of you toward one another grows ever greater. As a result, we ourselves (D)speak proudly of you among (E)the churches of God for your [a]perseverance and faith [b](F)in the midst of all your persecutions and afflictions which you endure. This is [c]a (G)plain indication of God’s righteous judgment so that you will be (H)considered worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you indeed are suffering. [d]For after all (I)it is only right [e]for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you, and to give relief to you who are afflicted, along with us, [f](J)when the Lord Jesus will be revealed (K)from heaven (L)with [g]His mighty angels (M)in flaming fire, dealing out retribution to those who (N)do not know God, and to those who (O)do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. These people will pay the penalty of (P)eternal destruction, (Q)away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, 10 when He comes to be (R)glorified among His [h]saints on that (S)day, and to be marveled at among all who have believed—because our (T)testimony to you was believed.

21 For just as the Father raises the dead and (A)gives them life, so (B)the Son also gives life to whom He wishes. 22 For not even the Father judges anyone, but (C)He has given all judgment to the Son, 23 so that all will honor the Son just as they honor the Father. (D)The one who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.

Judgment at the Throne of God

11 Then I saw a great white (A)throne and Him who sat upon it, from whose [a]presence (B)earth and heaven fled, and (C)no place was found for them. 12 And I saw the dead, the (D)great and the small, standing before the throne, and [b](E)books were opened; and another [c]book was opened, which is (F)the book of life; and the dead (G)were judged from the things which were written in the [d]books, (H)according to their deeds. 13 And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, and (I)Death and Hades (J)gave up the dead who were in them; and they were judged, each one of them (K)according to their deeds. 14 Then (L)Death and Hades were thrown into (M)the lake of fire. This is the (N)second death, the lake of fire. 15 And if [e]anyone’s name was not found written in (O)the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
