⁴ who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, ^(A)proclaiming himself to be God.

^2 (A)“Son of man, say to ^(B)the prince of Tyre, Thus says the Lord God:

⁶ It opened its mouth to utter blasphemies against God, blaspheming his name and his dwelling,^[a] that is, those who dwell in heaven. ⁷ Also it was allowed ^(A)to make war on the saints and to conquer them.^[b] And authority was given it over every tribe and people and language and nation,

⁵ For although there may be ^(A)so-called gods in heaven or on earth—as indeed there are many “gods” and many “lords”—

⁴⁵ And he shall pitch his palatial tents between the sea and the glorious holy mountain. Yet he shall come to his end, with none to help him.

³⁶ “And the king shall ^(A)do as he wills. ^(B)He shall exalt himself and magnify himself above every god, ^(C)and shall speak astonishing things against ^(D)the God of gods. ^(E)He shall prosper ^(F)till the indignation is accomplished; for what is decreed shall be done.

⁹ Out of one of them came ^(A)a little horn, which grew exceedingly great toward ^(B)the south, toward the east, and toward ^(C)the glorious land. ^10 (D)It grew great, ^(E)even to the host of heaven. And some of the host ^(F)and some^[a] of ^(G)the stars it threw down to the ground and ^(H)trampled on them. ^11 (I)It became great, even as great as ^(J)the Prince of the host. ^(K)And the regular burnt offering was taken away from him, and the place of his sanctuary was overthrown. ¹² And a host will be given over to it together with the regular burnt offering because of transgression,^[b] and it will throw truth to the ground, and ^(L)it will act and prosper. ¹³ Then I heard ^(M)a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to the one who spoke, ^(N)“For how long is the vision concerning the regular burnt offering, ^(O)the transgression that makes desolate, and the giving over of the sanctuary and host to be trampled underfoot?” ¹⁴ And he said to me,^[c] “For 2,300 ^(P)evenings and mornings. Then the sanctuary shall be restored to its rightful state.”
