¹⁷ comfort your hearts ^(A)and ^[a]establish you in every good word and work.

³ But ^(A)the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and ^(B)guard you from the evil one.

¹³ so that He may establish ^(A)your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints.

² and sent ^(A)Timothy, our brother and minister of God, and our fellow laborer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you and encourage you concerning your faith,

Comfort in Suffering

^3 (A)Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, ⁴ who ^(B)comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any ^[a]trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. ⁵ For as ^(C)the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our ^[b]consolation also abounds through Christ. ⁶ Now if we are afflicted, ^(D)it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effective for enduring the same sufferings which we also suffer. Or if we are comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.

¹³ Now may the God of hope fill you with all ^(A)joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

¹⁸ My little children, ^(A)let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

¹⁰ But ^[a]may the God of all grace, ^(A)who called ^[b]us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, ^[c]perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.
